My 2011 5.7 ram has 31,000 miles on it and it’s time to replace the plugs. I’ve been told so many things about what type of plugs do you use and do I really need to change them at 30,000 I was told they were copper plugs from the factory and not to replace them with iridium. Can anyone shed some light on this for me? I’m totally in the dark thanks.

You do not have to use copper.

You can use iridium.

You do not need to upgrade coils, you can still use copper.

The choice is yours.

Copper 30k, iridum 100k, you decide.

If you go iridium just use the suggested equivalent to your copper plugs. Rock Auto usually gives multiple choices.

I put iridium in my 11, at 120k, it's still running strong even after I sold it@150k.

Copper plugs are still the most efficient plug. Your truck is 15 years old with only 31,000 miles on it,so it sits alot by the sounds of it,i'd stick the factory copper plugs back in it,as it'll be 15 years before you need to change them again, and they're way cheaper then the irridium plugs.

I run copper plugs in my cammed truck. They are fine to use and cheap.

Take the inner fenders off and change your plug thru the wheel well.

Buy Iridiums….Once….and be DONE. The time/trouble/labor/expense …. simply isn’t worth doing this over and over and over again….

I must have better things than you to do… than the same thing over and over and over thru the life of these things…
I had a 2012 and I pulled the copper plugs out of it at 40K ….and again at 100K…. and that second time I installed iridiums. At 220K I pulled those…and they still looked new…. it was a waste of time pulling them. They’re well worth the money, IMO.

It's that quick? I was considering sending it to the dealer for plugs and a transmission fluid swap.

I run Autolite Platinum in my 2011. Been using Autolite for 40 years, never had a problem with them in any vehicle I've owned.
