2012 Laramie without backup camera; HELP

I just bought a 2012 Ram Laramie, but it does not have the backup camera. Does anyone know if the truck is prewired with the camera harness in the tailgate and/or frame rails to the stereo? I have the Garmin GPS stereo (not sure of the 3 letter designation).

I have looked at many 09 -12 Ram 1500's in preparation for my backup camera and power lock install in my tailgate. None of the ones that do not have a backup camera have been prewired. The backup camera kit (P/N 82211184) is for 09 -12 Ram 1500 and cost around $250. Here is the link to the thread I started if you want to get a better idea.

I would look under the tail of the truck to see if you have any extra wire harnesses behind the bumper, I expect they would be near the center.. I have read some owners say that their trucks were pre wired, 2011-12. This may only be included with the auto tail gate lock.

Pull the inspection plate on the tail gate and look for extra connectors near the handle, if there is one it is most likely for the camera or auto lock.

not true either. my old '13 had no pre-wire for a cam i had to wire it in myself.

Didn't necessarily mean prewired for a camera. But other stuff like footwell lighting, power seats, etc. Depends on the trim level too I guess.
