Hey guys, it was a long day but we got the 6" RCX put in my 2012 Outdoorsman yesterday. I already had Bilstein 5100s maxed out and I put in a 3/4" Top Gun Customz rear coil spacer. I also put in Air Lift 1000 air bags. We had a few snags and had to run to a dealership in the middle of the installation (whoops) but we got it done lol
I should have listened to Jake09 but the 3/4" rear coil spacers are too small, I am going to need to install 1.5" rear spacers. I know my front end will drop slightly when I get it aligned but here are the results:
Before Lift with 35s: Front were both 39.25", Rear were both 40.25".
After Lift with 35s: Front Drivers 45.25", Front Pass 45.5", Rear both 45"
I'm slightly nose end high and even if the alignment brings the front down 0.25"-0.5", I didn't want it pefectly level so swapping to the 1.5" rear spacers should fix that.
The Air Bags were easy. They required no support under them inside the coils because once you slide them in and fill a few pounds, they don't move. I have not hauled anything yet but will get back to you with their performance. I'm running 15 psi right now and it rides pretty darn good other than the alignment being out.
The one thing we had to do since my Outdoorsman has the single exhaust was removed the rear tailpipe and resonator to drill the holes for the tract bar drop bracket. This is not mentioned in the instructions.
This is my 2nd 6" lift kit install and I actually like the RCX over BDS. I put a BDS in my 2009. The RCX retains the factory front brake lines and tie rod ends. With my 09, I blew a BDS brakeline and my truck sat for 3 days waiting for a part. With retaining the factory lines, I can run to the dealership and repair the same day. That's just my personal preference I guess in being able to repair something...if needed.
I have a ton of pics so here's the start of some...
1) Before Lift
2) Front Diff out
3) Front completely stripped
4-5) Lifted!
