I want to put some king 2.5x8 coilovers on my 2wd Dodge Ram but the only way this is going to be possible will be installing shock hoops and modifying the lower control arm. Does anyone have any advice or information that can help me? Only one guy to do this previously and he lives in AZ while I'm in CA

Probably easiest way would be to start bending some tube and make your own hoops. Doubt there's anything out there that would even be close enough to fit.
I'd try and lean the top of the shocks back towards the cab a couple inches from straight up for the most room.
As far as the arm goes, that'll be easy. Get a heim bracket that fits and build you an adapter to weld to the arm. Just tack it in place first and cycle everything up and down without the springs on the coilovers to make sure there's no binding.
Good luck! It'll be interesting...

Thank you for the info ! Yea I have to find someone with a pipe bender. I have a welder at my work but need to get the tube bent first.
As far as the lower arms. They are forged aluminum that are honey comb under neath

Hmm... Thought they were still stamped steel. That could pose a problem, but find someone who can weld aluminum and see what you can do. It's gotta be pretty strong, just no telling in what direction. Lol

What do you think about making a 1/4" or 1/2" steel plate bolting it to the bottom of the lower arm via the bar pin mounts and using this adapter 39e09c1f0821a69ae2bedc82a8e68268.jpg

Too many failure points for my taste. It would work though.
What I'd do though is buy separate triangular shaped mounting tabs, (4 of them) and then weld them to the adapter that's bolted to the bar pin. This little stamped zinc coated u plates may not handle the stress and they can be a pain to weld on. 3/8" plate should be plenty for the bar pin adapter and the tabs are gonna be 3/8" or 1/4" and then just grind/cut them to fit.
Pm me some pics when it's done. I'm interested now. I've got my wife's old '10 I can't fogure out which direction I'm gonna go with it!

Do you have any pictures of the mounting tabs your talking about ? I'm familiar with fabrication but for my work not for my vehicle. I have welded aluminum before but am not great at it. That's why I was trying to avoid it haha. The adapter on the bar pin. There is no adapter just two bolts that hold the bar pin in place 66280b56d1eac2f2f88bc883462120fa.jpg
