2013 gear swap

If you change the rear say you go from 392 to the oem 410 in the rear is OK foe two wheel drive but in order to go into 4x4 the both gear sets have to match.

Oh wow, can't believe I missed that. Makes complete sense. Duh. Haha. Doing the front swap isn't like the rear swap is what you were getting at previously yes?

Exactly the front is a mess if you try and go with anything other than what was offered from oem. But in your case 410 I belive was offered so it should be easy for you.

Yes but I have another problem I have to make hybrid axels now half 2013 and half 2008 for the front smh always something

Looking at getting a ram, it would be a 2014 sport 4x4, and most around here are have the 3.21 gears, would like to get 3.92 as I plan on lifting and adding 35/37 tires. But so far with reading the front end needs to be swapped in order to do so. How much of a hassle is this? Can the 3.21 w/ 8spd handle 35s thanks!

Just my 2 cents, have a dealer find the truck u want or find it yourself and have it shipped in. It can "handle 35's" just fine on the hwy it just kicks down a gear if you go up a hill...over a bridge etc. more annoying than anything. I can't speak for towing but I know all that gear hunting puts more wear on your trans. 3.92 rear gears from Moe's are in my future, and I need a whole new front diff with 3.92 gears in it (ring gear is welded in on 2013's). I hear on 2014's they went back to bolting them in, so u may be able to just swap gears in both axles...but I'd make damn sure before you bought it (that the front gears aren't welded in).

Yeah ideally I want to find one with the 3.92, I'm buying used and their is a couple 14s with super low milage. Found a Laramie for a couple grand more but with the 3.92. I'm thinking the extra couple grand is much worth paying over sourcing out front end parts. Just want some confirmation before hand.

Not sure on the 14 but I can tell you I had 35 with a 6 inch lift and it was fine the stock size is 33 not that bad. It don't do burn outs but the truck ain't meant to do that lol. The conversion is a mess but I'm loving the 4.56 so far

Hang tough. Don't get in a hurry. Get the 3.92/8. That , and the 4.10s they put in some of the now older R/Ts are the only factory combinations worth having.

You will be very glad you held out.

No not always the 392 with the 35 was good but when I got the 37 it was dragging. I wish I could of went to 513 but I guess the 456 is working out great. Weird having a 2013 with 2008 parts though. Took it on the beach today and was wayyyyy better then before still break in period can't wait to get on her and feel the power band. I also put on a pic of 37 vs 35 so you can get a look at the difference hard to see but it's there lol

With 3.21 try to keep tire weight as low as possible. I have the 3.21 and put mastercraft 35's on as they seem to be the lightest. I tow a 22' pontoon around town and that didn't really change much. When I store the boat for the winter I tow it about 20 miles over some mildly hilly highway and I could definitely tell the boat was there.$

Looked into swapping out to 3.92 and one dealership told me $6500 , but it looks like I could order parts from chryslerpartsdirect for around $2500.

Hello, gentleman. Sorry to resurrect this thread but my 4.10 rear axle is almost here and I need to find an 8" front. I have a 2014 Ecodiesel crew cab 6.5' bed. I already have a master replacement kit to go to 4.10 on a front 8".

Can someone confirm that I need an 8" complete carrier assembly from 2006-2011 Ram 1500?

I need a 2006-2011 driveshaft?

What do I need to do to the front half axles? Whats the difference?

Yes drive shaft & brackets with the 2006-2011 front carrier assembly.
East Coast Gears did mine, they also ordered new stub shafts, spacer adapter for drive shaft & hardware (bolts/washers/etc.)
If you have a 4-6inch lift or higher you will have to order brackets from lift manufacturer for 2006-2011 because stock brackets will not work unless front carrier came from same lift.
1 bracket will have to be fabricated/welded, no way around it, nothing available off the shelf as far as I know.
Existing front half axles will work, nothing needed here.

This was for a 2014 1500 5.7 Hemi Crew Cab with 6-speed.
Eco-diesel with 8-speed could be different driveshaft & bracket-wise.
Maybe someone here has done this with diesel not sure.

I just finished my 2015 4.10’s swap. Sooo much better than the 3.21’s!
