Happened to me as well. 2013 Express. I have had 2 oil changes and noticed yesterday a large oil slick in my driveway. Took it back to Mobile 1 quick lube and they said it was leaking at the filter but the filter was tight. They ended up trying a new kind of filter. Will keep an eye on it

Same thing after first oil change didn't notice it until I investigated my driveway and saw the filter and steering rack was covered in oil. Changed my own oil after with Mobil 1 filter and royal purple. The filter was deffinately not tight when I took it off. 2k on this filter no leaks. I have no plan on ever visiting that dealership again it wasn't my first issue with them.

I did my oil about 2 weeks ago, noticed a few drops on the ground. When you remove the old filter there's a lot that gets tossed on the steering, and I think that's what was leeching down. Filter and surroundings were bone dry (and I checked the oil level to make sure there's some in lol)

Any updates on this thread would be appreciated from those who have tried to correct this problem already. My oil leak (allegedly from the filter) started after my first oil change at 3000 miles...at the dealership. I took it back to the dealer 3 times over the next 3000 miles for oil leaks (first time they blamed it on the residual oil left over from when they drained the old oil during the first change; second time they said the filter was loose, so they tightened it; third time they blamed it on faulty oil filter and changed my oil and put a new filter on). Now, my oil leak has returned in less than 1 week after having it changed with the undercarriage completely cleaned, and it appears worse than the last three leaks.

that's why I do my own oil changes so that I know for sure it is done right. The last time I took my truck to a lube shop for an oil change, the guy brings my drain plug to me in the waiting area and said that 'it was hard to take off'. I look at the threads and there is no sign of damage from having to force it off the oil pan. So I waited 'til the next oil change and lo and behold nothing was wrong with it  So anyway, if you want it done right, I'd say do it yourself or have somebody that you trust do it for you.

Sorry, i didn't update with a follow-up post....

They ended up replacing the threaded filter tube and i have not had any issues since.
It was as my dealer noted in the starcase.

I'm actually pretty happy with the dealer now, but it has taken me a long time to get them to know that i actually know what i'm talking about when i tell them about problems and possible solutions. Service manager knows i research and tend to have more information than the "advisors". He asks me stuff now. :)

So are there faulty threaded filter tubes on the 2013s or did they cross thread your tube?

Just brought my 2013 Ram in this morning, same thing, its leaking oil. Only noticed when it was raining and saw oil leaking down the parking lot. Would really like to know if they are going to do some type of recall on this since so many people have the same issue.

Looks like I just joined the club, noticed some spots on my driveway only to find the steering rack nice and wet. Just rolled 11k, happy stealership'ing to me

Have the same problem myself. On my 3rd filter that leaks. They tried to tell me it was a faulty filter also but when the problem just reoccurred this week I crawled under the truck the filter was loose enough I could turn it with my hand only, not even using a filter wrench. I'm going back to the dealer Friday to get it checked again. This time I'm not going to buy the BS that it's a bad filter. They need to own up to this problem and fix it for everyone. This was my first Ram truck and so far it's going to be my last!

I have 22k miles on my 2013 Ram Express. I started noticing oil on the driveway and in the garage about 1-2 weeks ago. Brought it in today to the dealership for a routine oil change and told them about the oil leak. They also claimed a "faulty filter." I told them to diagnose the problem and that was their root-cause. Checked this afternoon and still see oil underneath the truck, not sure if it's remaining oil from the oil change or if it is still leaking. I'll be monitoring it for the next week to see if it continues... I have already scheduled an appointment for next week just in case.

I work at a dealer and I'm pretty sure the 2013 is a small filter not a large one I could be wrong but both will thread on but big filter won't seal it's a common mistake because for the longest time rams used the ********* and then the switched it to the small black get them to check that

My '13 actually had the larger filter on when I went to change it the first time. I only switched over to the smaller one to make it easier to get the filter out. No leaking here. I know on mine it takes quite a few turns to thread the filter off so maybe the issue was fixed.

Well it's been a few days and no signs of any more oil leaks.... IMO, it's odd for a filter to begin leaking late into its life-cycle. Hopefully this was the only time I see oil underneath the truck in the garage/driveway

Same situation here. Leak started 600 miles after oil change. Dealer reported the filter was damaged. No sign of road impact, the diagnosis was that the filter was already damaged when installed and the tech didn't notice it. No leak since except for what I suspect was a residual drip.

Be nice to know the "Star Case" or TSB number on the mounting nozzle modification that was mentioned earlier in the posts. Just in case the dealer isn't aware.
