I have my 2013 Sport...with the 8.4A Stereo. I love my SXM...listen to it all the time...but the reception in my 2013 compared to my 2008 I traded in...it SUCKS!!!. I lost reception the other day sitting at a red light when a tractor trailer pulled up beside me. I mean come on. Is anyone else having issues with theirs??? I think it is pitiful how bad the reception is in it. I never lost it this much in my 2008...no where near this much. Drive my a tree limb...bam...lose signal. I had it in serviced the other day...told them about it...they said worked fine for us...yea in ur parking lot it would be fine...drive a few miles down the road...pass a tree...u will lose it. Just venting and....anyone else seeing this issue,...maybe I have a bad antenna...let me know.

I have never lost my signal going down the open highway(Texas highway) until now. I thought it was very strange too!

Mine is the same way. Driving next to a hill, driving under an overpass on the free way, driving through trees. It has pretty poor signal quality compared to my last truck (tundra) which always had reception.

never had an issue, mine even works in parking garages, which surprised me the first time (I understand SXM also has broadcast towers in some cities and my area is loaded with them).
heres that website Sirius repeater map

on 400 mile trip up and down florida, I had no issues either...

At home in the city, the reception is fine (except in underground garages, but i wouldn't expect satellite radio reception underground). However, as I drive north to the cottage and particularly in wooded areas, the signal cuts out frequently. We have satellite radio in our boat and don't have any reception problems, however there obviously aren't any trees above the boat. This is my first vehicle with satellite radio, so I don't have anything to compare against, but I am disappointed when I lose the reception frequently up north.

I've never had SXM before so can't compare to others vehicles but I can say that I lose reception on mine a lot too. It's so bad I generally avoid it in favour of songs through the USB or Bluetooth. I' m lucky if I drive for ten minutes with the SXM cutting out briefly, but I do live in a rural area so assumed that was why.

My SXM sucks in Houston too. Ways cuts out when I pull up to buildings, go underpasses, next to 18wheelers. Just sucks hah

I'm thinking there may be a great variance in SiriusXM antennas. Had the easily interrupted reception issue with two previous SiriusXM units, but to my surprise the one I installed in my 2012 even works beneath metal awnings 90% of the time and when going through most underpasses. I use the term "install" loosely as the antenna is actually inside the cab and mounted on the dash with a strip of Velcro. Don't know how it would perform in the big city canyons between hi-rise buildings as I kissed that world goodbye nearly ten years ago and haven't seen a need to revisit.

I have a suspicion there might also be head unit grounding issues with those experiencing really poor reception/sound quality.

Thanks for everyone input....I will take it back to Dodge. I had it there last week and told them and they said it never lost for them so they couldnt test it....thats lame. I understand parking garages and tunnels and such...but just down the highway beside a tractor trailer and it goes out..thats bad. So thanks and I will let you know what I find out.

My Ram doesn't have anywhere close to the reception that my wife's Sonata has with her XM. I also noticed with mine that the sound on XM isn't as good as regular radio or Ipod, anyone else have this problem?

No problem with SiriusXM reception here. But my 2500 came with the basic radio and I simply ordered one of those plug it into the cigar lighter receivers from SiriusXM. Get great reception and the antenna is simply mounted on the dash beneath the windshield with Velcro. Sound quality however is better than through any factory radio in other of our vehicles, with the worst being in our Hyundai Genesis. I have no idea who built that head unit, but the sound quality from it with all the speakers in that vehicle just sucks to put it bluntly. Not nearly as good as the Rube Goldberg setup in my RAM 2500.........Go Figure!

have a 2013 1500 factory sxm. on the hiway reception is fine. in the city i get interruption from trees, power line and any thing else out there. don't have the problem with the aftermarket unit i installed in 2000 jeep wrangler or 2005 dakota.
saw something on another forum about using the antenna from the aftermarket sirus package and plugging it in to factory unit.
has anybody tried this?

Mine seems to sound overly digitized...regular radio sounds better to me.

Nice! Have to take this to the dealer... I stopped listening to my sat radio because of how much it cut in and out while driving through town and what not.

Great find on the service bulletin - is there one for 2012 also? I just traded in my 2011 Tacoma 4x4 for a Laramie. I've driven a bunch of Rams for work and I'm loving my new rig! There is something wrong with the reception though... I'm doing the same commute, same driving, always on XM, different truck and way worse reception. I came on here to see if there's an antennae swap or something... what else should I look for? Grounding issue?
