new to the group and new to being a dodge owner - so please be easy with me
getting various dtc's
p0123 throttle / pedal position sensor circuit high
p0222 throttle / pedal position sensor circuitt low
p2683 engine coolant bypass valve - circuit high
p26A6 engine coolant bypass valve - circuit low
p0624 sensor reference voltage 'A' circuit low
U1424 - implausable engine torque signal received
throttle body lightning bolt shines ever so brightly at me - truck is in limp mode and barely idles now
tried replacing throttle body with a new one - no luck
swapped out pedal with sensor - no go also
changed out 3 way bypass valve - thinking it was a separate issue - no luck there either
any insight would be helpfull as to where to start ( Ima 60 year old beginner at this)
I do have alfaobd though and am getting familiar with it

Check all grounds. Many times multiple codes that don't always associate with each other can be traced to grounds.

Also, pull, look at, and clean all relays and fuses in the box under the hood.

Has the oil cooler/filter assembly been changed at any time? I have seen where not putting the wire clips back in place under the intake will cause wires to rub through and ground out, causing all types of crazy symptoms.

Watch this video to see what a grounded wire can cause on a Pentastar.

oil filter assembly has not been touched - still original plastic one - I do plan on replacing it with a new aluminum one.
looked the the fuse panel and look clean - pulled a few of the fuses related - all look clean so far - checked the connections to throttle body and 3 way - all clean and no pins pushed out.
Im chasing down the wire harness to see if I can find anything obvious - multi meter is next (once rain stops).
fun part now is getting a decent wiring diagram to chase down the leads.
I've see these guys videos - they are good , detail and informative

btw - thanks yardbird for the response

How old is the battery in the truck? You might want to have it load tested, these trucks like to do weird things when the battery starts going bad. The old statement of the truck start just fine isn't good enough test.

One of these is $18 well spent and will last a lifetime for a DIYer.

Don't trust a digital tester as used by parts stores or stealerships; they're prone to false-positive results on batteries with a flakey cell.

heading off to harbor freight to get a battery load tester today
also looking at a possibility - oil filter housing is old plastic type - and looks like it is leaking - could also be a cause of 2 sensors on same wiring as throttle body - but regardless - needs to be changed out - one of those sensors could be pulling down the 5 volts
I'll update in a few days after changing out the housing

spent the extra 20 bucks and got the 125 amp tester - if ya gonna do it - do it right and hopefully only once

battery tested out good
oil filter housing replaced with new sensors - just in case they were causing the voltage issue and because it was the old plastic one
used alfaobd to monitor pedal sensor voltage - spikes up when press - drops when depressed - so pedal should be good
with engine running - throttle body voltage changes as idle rpm decreases
but still no pedal to throttle -
looking into throttle body reset but not finding the below listed procedure
locate relearn ??
found it - ETC learn - and it works so far
I have a working accelerator now ,,, have to test drive the truck a few times
no new codes - only stored ones that just dont want to clear out
the listed below for future reference
Detailed Steps (General Procedure - may vary slightly for AlfaOBD):
  1. Turn ignition off: Ensure the vehicle's ignition is completely off.
  • Connect AlfaOBD: Connect the AlfaOBD interface to the vehicle's OBD-II port.

  • Launch AlfaOBD: Open the AlfaOBD software and select the correct vehicle (2014 Ram 1500) and engine type.

  • Access ECM: Navigate to the Engine Control Module (ECM) section within the software.

  • Locate Relearn Function: Find the specific function for "Throttle Body Relearn" or "Throttle Position Sensor Reset". ( also known as ETC learn)

I'm convinced one of the modules on your truck has gone bananas and is flooding the CAN bus network with garbage data. This is the reason you have several unrelated modules reporting very irregular faults.

A very similar result happens inconsistently when we change the wheel circumference size.
Many unrelated modules fail to connect after the ABS module goes nuts.
In this instance, the solution is to re-initialize the ABS module.

With the fault on your truck, I would be confirming all the connections to every module and specifically the power and ground connections.

Arbitrarily choosing a module to re-initialize in hopes of it being a fix, is likely a waste of time.
If a module is misbehaving due to a faulty power or data connection, re-initializing that module is likely to produce a temporary solution, at best or no obvious results.

I'm with Yardbird, proof all the grounds, power, and data connections.

I strongly advise to exhaust your efforts to explore the integrity of module connections before re-initializing anything but, the relearn function you're searching for is most likely this;

AlfaOBD
Function:Engine
ECUs:Chrysler PowerTech/Pentastar/World/Hemi V6/V8/
Active Diagnostic
Learn ETC,Learn ETC (NGC4)

This feature will learn the throttle position voltage and accelerator pedal position. Engine must not be running to perform this function.

Agreed - I think I will probably see the throttle body issue again but I have a reference to work with at this point with it " working"
I do know the 2 sensors on the oil filter housing are on the same bus as throttle body and pedal - "if" one of those were bad - could cause an issue with the voltage - (plus I took the time to check the wiring conditions - make sure not oiled up or corroded , frayed )
disconnecting everything and reconnecting possibly cleaned it up - - I can only hope
Its a step up from where I was when I started this project
so 2 steps forward 1 steps back,,?

after a few test drives - only a few dtc's left to look into
Faults found. ( pulled from alfaobd)
P0688
P26A6
P2683
Error code: P2683
Engine Coolant Bypass Valve Control Circuit High

that and my tpms is not registering any tires - possibly from having battery disconnected for 2 days
had a MIL for the air bag - but that disappeared after a few starts and left to idle for 15 minutes
I have already replaced the 3 way valve - so need to start testing that wiring

update - last errors are gone - no CEL !!
turns out - the 3 way valve was wrong for my truck - it was missing pin 6 ( ground)
I missed it initially when I installed it - stupid mistake on my part.
I spent hours chasing down wiring and testing the voltages . got a new correct one installed now.
now all I have to do is get the tire pressure monitor to relearn all 4 tires - any body got any tricks for that. I do have alfaobd ( this is some good stuff btw.)
I replaced both tow mirrors that have puddle lamp and turn signals. ( one was broken originally) so got 2 new ones. Enable the features with alfaobd. and life is good.

Did you finally resolve all the outstanding issues with your truck?
Please provide the processes you used for the final solution. TIA

the last issue was the 3 way valve throwing voltage errors. The part I received from auto parts store was the incorrect valve - looked identical but was actually missing pin 6 on the valve ( turns out - it was for the eco )- so I was still getting the same errors. very deceiving. Once replace with proper unit - everything cleared out. The throttle body errors disappeared after I replaced the oil filter housing. The oil pressure sensor and coolant temp sensor are tied to the same 5 volt bus as the throttle body.
A throttle body relearn was a necessary step after all was put back together.
It needed to be replaced anyway due to leaking oil. so changed out the housing and sensors as preventative maintenance. also changed plugs while I was at it. they were over due too. No throttle body issues ever since. did a complete oil change and coolant flush since I was knee deep . truck runs good now. I was driving around and thought the truck stalled out at a light- it was running that smooth.

Excellent and well done.

Thanks for the update. I'm confident this info will assist others.

I will add this - Get alfaobd and the obd mx+ bluetooth adapter - it was money well spent in troubleshooting and clearing codes plus adding a few features ( tow mirror signals and lamps)

Looking back at what you went through, do you think the coolant bypass was your problem? Or was it the oil cooler too? I’m in almost the exact same situation right now and I’ve done so much to figure it out. Service ETC is on, gas pedal don’t work, multiple error codes across oil sensors. Changed out throttle body. Changed pedal. Changed coolant bypass (I guess it could be the wrong one now that I’ve read your story. I’ve Tested 5v reference (everything’s showing 5v except throttle body). I’ve jumped wires and all kinds of stuff. Most of my error codes are saying high circuit. I removed the instake and the sensors underneath were a little oily but I tapped in to those 5V wires and they were pulling the correct voltage. I’m thinking I have a short but I don’t know how to trace it.

Im not sure but Im thinking it was one of the sensors on the oil housing -they share the same 5 volt bus - changing the oil housing was because it was prone to leaking issues - so changed it out and while I was at it - changed the sensors - also look carefully at the wiring connections to the sensors - they are known to frey or deteriorate
changed the water coolant valve because of error codes - that was another mess -due to wrong part - but could have been a 5 volt reference issue also - so honestly - not sure- too many fixes done at one time. do a throttle body relearn no matter what - every time you make a change. I wished I knew before hand.
