During a alignment they jacked the front springs came out of the perches when they took all the weight off to check the for anything that's lose ? only thing ever done was Ranchero shocks can it be true that the shocks are the only stop that would keep this from happening

Technically the sway bar also helps to keep it from drooping all the way but at the cost of bending the s--- out of your links. But aside from that, yes the shocks are the only thing holding them in place.

If your shocks are either longer than the OEM ones or damaged in someway then they can allow the springs to pop out of place. They shouldn't just exit stage right because the shocks will keep them there, just not seated correctly.

I've been working on cars and trucks for 30+ years and have lifted many off the ground by the frame, meaning the axles/suspension was at full droop. This includes working at a automotive test facility that usually had at least 2-4 cars on lifts at a time. Don't think I have ever seen a factory vehicle where the springs fell out or came loose, assuming something wasn't broke.
There is a chance that if the shocks were longer than stock it would let the suspension droop more than normal. I put new lift springs on my '16 several years ago and I had to remove the shocks, disconnect the swaybar, and disconnect the trackbar to get it to droop far enough....and still had to pry the stock springs out.
