good luck with that decision, I personally don't care for red or black but if I had to of the options I'd go two tone.

I've had every color before. Never red. So I think I'm going to give two tone red a whirl and get pulled over twice as much lol

White is a great color. Easy to maintain and cool in the summer.

I can't decide. I go in on Monday to order this beast. Start a poll- 1. Red and black two tone. Or. 2. Gloss black mono.

Ready. Vote. Lol

Well as some of you may know. Ram took foreverrrrr on my pw. So I scratched the build and bought a rocky ridge edition 2500 cummins.

Payload

Hi all, newbie here and can't figure out how to start a new post but I need some help. Just purchased a 2014 PW the slt model and of course after I got home I found out the payload is for this vehicle is just under 1500lbs. So my question is what can I do to increase payload? The Laramie model has a higher payload but my understanding is its the same coils, so couldn't I just add air bags or sumo springs and increase my payload or am I missing?

Forum looks great and I am excited about my new PW

Welcome!

To start a new thread, just hit the "New Thread" button in the lower left hand corner of the first page of any section. It is grey and should take you to a screen that appears just like a "Post Reply" button and page, but will have a space for a Thread Title, and other things to get you started.

Boy, what a simple question, that is going to require (and you will receive) about a MILLION responses to. That is a very tough question to answer, depending on how comfortable you are with not following "official" policy, law, manufacturer suggestions and all of that.

Plus, it isn't just a new Coil-Sprung 2500, but a Power Wagon, with it's own unique set of brand new suspension bits.

Power Wagons are pretty rare, so you may have to wait for the aftermarket to "catch up" in terms of offering a specific 'bolt on' kit that is tested, proven and guaranteed to fit and be effective on this new platform.

In short, I would think air bags, air up the rears and go for it. That is me, and a casual, common sense approach.

You WILL get every opinion, from hard core technical, to fly by the seat of your pants.

So, I will step off this one here, and let you start your other thread and see where it takes you. I would imagine you will be heading out into the great unknown, as a first explorer with this new PW suspension system and how to upgrade it for capacity in the real world.

Until then, check the 4th Gen section under towing and see if someone else has already sniffed around about this issue. They may get close with a new coil sprung 2500 gasser, but with the whole new, multiple, unique components that go on the new springer Power Wagon, I bet most won't apply. But, it will get you headed in the right direction.

Good luck, and welcome!

Thanks Brakelate I got it posted now in gen 4 towing and hauling:)

Gonna see what options I have, I am thinking the same as u, just air bags and call it good. I read in past PW having problems with air lines being torn because of the flex and different suspension, but I can live with airing down before off roading and air back up when I need to. Pics don't understand why the Laramie PW model has 3100 payload but the slt model I have is only 1500????? Thought all Power Wagons should have the same payload because they all share the same suspension???

Anyway, thanks for the input, and check out the new thread.

Hi guys I have a question about the new 2014 PW and I cant seem to find a solid answer from google. I know the PW sits 2 inches higher than the regular 2500 but I hear some people say that its 2 inch just in the front like a leveling kit. So my question is, is the new pw comes from the factory already leveled? Or just 2 inches higher overall still maintaining that 2 inch tail high rake? Also BDS is planning to launch a 4 inch 4 link suspension lift kit for the new 14 pw so I might get a pw instead of the regular 2500. I personally like 6" lifted and completely leveled 2014 2500 with 37s. I also want to ask you guys what made you go with the pw rather than the regular besides its obvious advantages of lockers and swaybar disconnect?

I switched to a rocky ridge 2500. Cummins. Not the pw at the end. I love a power wagon tho hence my previous truck. However when it comes down to it a cummins is worth more than the others to me. I've wanted a cummins for a long long time lol

I have never owned a cummins motor so I dont know too much about it but based on what I hear from people I have to ask u isnt cummins alot of maintenece? Like DPF issues and u eventually have to get it deleted/strate pipe it (then u might fail smog test when its time to renew your registration), also the DEF fluid u have to put in which is also another hassle, and finally i dont know if its true but isnt there like a lag? Diesel throttle lag or something? Oh yea and also diesel is harder to start in the winter if u live somewhere where it gets very cold. Besides all that 6.7 cummins sounds MEAN! and I know they will probably outlast their owner but to me that still doesnt quite justify why people love cummins so much. Overrated engine or am i just under informed?

Under informed. I owned three hemis prior to this. Same Maintenance other than a little more pricey on oil change similar. Def fluid cheap. I have no lag or if there isn't it's same as my hemi had

a 6.7 cummins is different than other diesels it doesnt have turbo lag or break when properly maintained...

congrats man i love the truck..i swear ive seen your truck on their website recently those headlights look really familiar..

none the less you'll probably be much happier with this truck than a 2014 pw since it accomplishes the same offroading capability combined with cummins torque..things a beast:naughty:
