I bought this truck and absolutely love it. I'm having some issues, hoping someone can help as the dealer just keeps trying to take me for a ride.

Issue 1 - Clanking in the front suspension when turning and hitting bumps. Was told it was the lower ball - joints, got them fixed, noise is still there. Sway bar links and bushings?

Issue 2 - A kick when coming to a complete stop. It feels like I'm getting rear ended. Especially happens in 4wd and intermittent in 2wd.

Issue 3 - Roads are a little icy right now. Traction control kicked in when I was accelerating from a stop, truck power turned off completely. Turned truck off and back into gear. Tried to repeat the issue but didn't happen again. Yet..

Any ideas?

Does the truck have a lift or leveling kit installed? Your issue #1 sounds like it could be related to the "big hole spacer" thing.

Hi Ram_Rod1500,

I sincerely regret to hear of the trouble you are experiencing with your truck. If you continue to work with your dealer and you would be interested in an additional layer of support for the process, we would be more than happy to help. Our team is just a private message away.

Is this truck new to you? Issue 2 sounds like it can be tcm software related or possibly low oil in trans? Do you know if the truck was used to haul or work hard? Mileage?

Hi Ashton. Yes, it's new to me. Tranny fluid is full and not sure if it was used to haul or worked hard. The mileage is at 103K. And thanks for the feedback, I'll see if I can get an update for the software. Hopefully it helps

Mine did that and I replaced the hubs and problem solved.

The kick in the rear issue is normal. Here's how I got around it. When coming to a stop, just before the dead stop let up on the brake enough to almost let off completely at each stop. After awhile the truck will learn your driving style and the kick will become less and less noticeable and soon, disappear completely.

I learned the technique driving limos back in the day, my mentor called it the no lurch stop and told me I never wanted to come to a stop hard enough to spill a glass of wine sitting on the bar in the back of the limo. Once I read about the issue being driveshaft related I decided to try it and it worked.

I had a clunk in my front end a few years back. It ended up being a steering rack bolt (it’s still called a rack with electronic steering right?) that loosened off. I re-torqued to around 130ft lbs if I remember correctly. The clunk went away immediately.

Right on, thanks Livinalittle. A buddy told me to try the same thing.

Take a look at your upper strut mounts. I had a noise of some sort and I had the lower control arms replaced under warranty, I replaced the upper controls myself with mevotech ones that I could service the ball joint. Figured out that the brushing of the upper strut mount is worn. I ordered new ones, but in the meantime, I spray WD-40 brand silicone spray on the top of the Upper strut mount. The silicone lasts a bit longer and makes any clunking go away for 5-7 days. now I just need to find time to yank them out and replace them.
