Hey guys,

i'm sure this subject and question have been beaten to hell and back, but i have failed to satisfy myself with info on the quantity of oil required for changing the differential gear oils.

now i know what types of oil i need per the owners manual. i have an anti-spin diff. one question is how much oil do i need? (i'm already aware you just add it to the bottom of the fill port) I've decided to go with redline 75w-140 and the 4oz friction modifier in the rear and 75w-85 in the front. i have ordered 3qts for the rear and 2qts for the front online because paying sales tax is silly if you don't have to(especially to have a product brought right to your door :) ). will that be enough to fill to the fill ports on each? the owners manual doesn't specify how much exactly and i just want to make sure i have enough without buying too much online. i haven't changed the diff oils on one of these trucks yet. seems like the process is easy-peasy to me.

thoughts on adding the friction modifier for the back? seems to be grey information on if it is needed with the redline GL5 75w-140 oil or not. and seems some of you from what i've read have added it, and some have not.

any info you guys that have done it will be appreciated!

I'm about to do this myself , it's my understanding with the Redline 75W -140 you do not need the friction modifiers because it's already added ; however , it's nice to have on hand if you start feeling or hearing any " chatter " if so add some modifier .
Also my 14 specifies 75W-90 in the front , no big deal for what you've gotten though .
As far as Qty , someone will chime in but pretty sure it's less than 3qts in each .

Make sure you drive around to warm up the diffs prior to the drain .
Sorry I couldn't help more , maybe someone will chime in with more spacifics. ..

hmm thats odd, i wonder if they have different front ends or something? mine def says 75w85 i double checked after i read your post just to be sure. i do have the 3.92 gears maybe the different ratios call out for something different?

i only got 2qts for the front i wonder if i should order another one just to be safe....

I have 3.55 differentials, maybe that is the difference?

Look at the link I posted above , you should be fine with the two qts .

So this is odd, the top is a pic I took of the owners manual that came with my truck, and, the bottom is one from the online ram website for a '14 ram 1500/2500/3500. For 1500 they both appear to say 75w85 for front axle, but for 2500/3500 one says 75w85 and the other says 75w90. I wonder if they updated them or something.

I would go with what ever the book says on type, i used 75-90 front, 75-140 rear. I have open ended diffs in the front. The redline friction modifier is usually enough, if it chatters add more. There is redline that has NO modifier. You can use modifier in an open, but cant do reverse... Non modified in a LSD

I would add an extra quart for what ever it tells you, because every pump out there sucks, and never gets all of the fluid at the bottom. I usually just get the gallons and pump till it pukes.

If you have limited slip. I am not sure if they changed the design but the chrysler 9.25, is based off the dana 40(? i belive, maybe 60) reguardless, unless they updated it, the LSD packs pins break and they will back them selfs out in the carrier and can cause major damage. This happened to my 3rd gen. Again they may have changed it.

The reason i mention this. The new trucks have drainplugs on the dif, THANK F**K, but the pins for the clutch packs may not come out and you will never know if they are broken and can cause you to have to buy an entire new rear end. So might be a good idea to take off the cover and make sure there is no kibble and bits in the carrier.

Please correct me if im wrong!!!
