The next project I'm doing is hooking up the gauges. I used the cover plate for the clutch mechanism that's not used on automatics. I need miscellaneous parts that I'll pick up tomorrow to get them working by this weekend. I'm curious about the existing AF & Fuel pressure readings. When I do the final build, a new fuel pump is on the list. I've never had a fuel pump last over 317,000 miles.

I have not ordered it yet but I do have an extra 8HP70 with less 30,000 miles on it in the garage. I bought it for a core or back up if needed until I have the funds for it. I'm planning on going back with the 8HP70 & a slightly higher stall from Hellraiser Transmissions if things go my way. I'm hoping the original trans will hold up with 317,000+ miles on it.
The 8HP90 is the Hellcat transmission. If you ever come across one priced decently, preferably new-ish, or brand new, it would make sense to get it for your super-charged engine.

Yep, sealed up! So your wife's running nitrous too, I'm impressed! Quick question, where did you tap the fuel pressure sensor at? My rails do not have a port to tap into. My first thought is to T into the fuel injector cross over line but I want to limit the possibility of leaks, especially at the top of the engine. My safer thought is down stream closer to the pump/gas tank. I wish I would have purchased the Whipple rails when they still offered them.

Thanks in advance!

You could buy a fuel rail adapter for nitrous, they usually have a couple 1/8 NPT ports for fuel pressure taps etc. I run stand alone fuel cells in both,so i'm tapped into the stand alone cells fuel pressure port on the regulators on both set-ups.
My wife has more 1/4 mile passes under her belt then most guys do,lol. She loves racing and has been racing all our toys since we've been together. She probably had more street races with my old 68Z then i did,as guys would always race a girl ,lol

I'm really dating myself 1985,lol The car was in a couple early 80's hotrod mags back in the day. With a nitrous snorting aluminium headed 433 big block it ran 10.70's and back then was winning it's share of street races,as a high 10 sec car in the early /mid 80's was fast, lol

That was actually pretty trick photography for 1985,lol. The photographer had me stand at one end of the car, then he took a photo, then had me move to the other end of the car,and then he joined the 2 photo's in his dark room, for 1985 it was a pretty trick photo, lol. This photo it's a little more obvious how he did it. Actually these were taken about 2 weeks before i met the boss,a month later and she was pretty well using it as her daily driver lol

I decided to change some much needed oils today. This is the first change on the front & rear ends, transfer case & transmission.
This is at close to 320,000 miles and here's what I had.

Front end not that bad.Fluid15.jpgFluid13.jpg

I made my own fill tubes which got the job done. Also on the rear end drain plug, I modified a 1/2" socket drive to fit the plug.Fluid8.jpgFluid10.jpgFluid11.jpgFluid9.jpgFluid6.jpgFluid4.jpg

Got the transmission filled this morning. I'll be getting me some jack stands in the near future. I had to get the rear end block up 20" to get the transmission level. I let it come up to temp, run it through the gears & re-topped her off. Water pump started leaking so I'm replacing it tomorrow (sucks).

Finally got the AF Gauge hooked up. It jumps around a bit but stays around 14.8 +/- on average. Under WOT it drops down to 10.5 +/-. When I completely let off the throttle, It maxes out past 17-0+. I'm guessing this is normal and the injectors are slowing/stopping fuel flow. When it comes to a stop (the Ram) or if I slightly tap the throttle, it goes back to the 14.8+/- zone. This is my first experience with a AF gauge so I would appreciate some input with those with experience.

Thanks in advance!

If you're still naturally aspirated you're a bit fat/rich on WOT,but the other numbers are right in the ballpark.N/A is usually happier with a A/Fr about 12.2 to 12.5 at WOT

What wild one says is spot on. You'll get a decent amount of HP back if you have someone tune it/lean it out a bit for WOT.

With over 340,000 miles on her, I believe cam/lifter failure has begun. I can hear it under the hood and oddly out of the driver side exhaust. I'll be ordering parts (SC Cam) to complete the new engine build when I re-gap the rings. I'm looking at MMX & Competition Cam. Any thoughts/opinions on the cam choice most appreciated.

Thanks!
