This is just my story that hopefully may help someone. I'm new to my 2015 Ram 4x4 with a hemi and just over 46k. It did not come with the brake controller. So after my research, especially here, I made a purchase online from one of the Mopar websites. As some may know the 2015 is specific to the year. Next day I get an email stating I'm being refunded as the part is unavailable , back ordered, until September. I did this 2 more times with the same results. Finally I found a dealer actually close to me who I called and actually had it in stock. They verified my vin and placed the order. The price was about $75 more than the first purchase but at least they had it. So moral of the story, for this model year, call to verify.
Now onto the install. If you follow the instructions provided they are minimal at best. Needing more tools than they suggest. I have the center console. The screws to remove the dash are not a Philips head as they say. The center console also has two screws that attach at the base of the dash which need to be removed as well which they left out. I just removed the top of the center console. It also tells you to remove the hood latch from the panel under the steering wheel which I found unnecessary. It stays out of the way. The mounting bracket for the control module is quite an engineering feat. Ram should have just installed the bracket from the factory as a build install. They reccomend to pre screw the three mountIng screws into the bracket. I reccomend to do it about twenty times. When your hand is twisted and crammed into this space you'll want the screws to go in almost effortless. Getting the screws snug is fun too. I believe I read about an hour install time. I took a little longer, maybe two hours.
Overall it was a simple install with a little difficulty as the instructions did not explain everything. I have not programmed yet. I'm debating having the dealer flash it or purchasing the alfaobd app. My first post and I'm truly enjoying the forum.
