I just picked up my truck used last week. 2015 Big Horn quad cab 4x4 w 17k miles. It has the seat in the middle front with the three cupholder console. At certain speeds I have this shaking / rattling mainly in the center seat. I love everything about the truck so far except for this strange shaking. I had the dealer balance the tires as this was my first thought. This did not fix the issue. I googled this and seems I'm not the only one with this issue. Anyone here have a similar issue? Fix? I have big plans to lift and put new wheels/tires but I want to get this fixed before I do anything so I don't run into warranty issues.

If you didn't do a "Road Force" tire balance, you might want to do so. This puts the tires under the same downward pressure you'd have as if they were on the vehicle and exposes problems such as being out of round that might not show up otherwise. Hate to spend money on tire balancing for tires you're about to ditch, but it would be a good way to diagnose whether or not the vibration is coming from the tires.

IF you figure it out, let us know.

I have yet to totally remove my shake.

I think it is a combination of the Hemi shake, all the front end pieces being tied into the motor mounts, the 2 piece axle shafts and the extremely lightweight frame design. Also think there is a shifting of eh rear axle, frok side to side, as the truck goes down teh road.

Hope you have better luck that me.

ps

sit in you rrar seat and wtch teh frotn seat head rest, as you go down teh road.

also, pay close attention to review mirror, and teh objects shown within it.

Watch hwo teh road signs, in teh review mirror, will blur out.
that is teh most annoying thing my truck does.
Dealer replaced teh rear view mirror, had to wait for months, back ordered. replaced it went for a drive, no difference

Service mgr goes, well they all do that

Really? Then why did you replace a $700 (LCD screen in teh mirror) rear view mirror?

Update. So I had dealer Road force the tires and no change in vibes. Has anyone successfully cured this issue? Google "Ram 1500 rear end vibrations" sometime. It is kinda scary how many people are in the same boat. There are also about a dozen or so complaints on NHTSA about this. Not happy with this truck so far...

At what speeds. Do you know if MDS is active during the shake? I know on a 2015 you should not have to worry but have you checked all the U-joints and also inspect the drive shaft for dings. Also do you still have the factory vibration dampers on the truck? They look like this.

Also did you pull a carfax if so any accidents?

I have done nothing but take back and forth to dealer balancing tires and wasting time. I get vibes when in mds or not. I do have those rusty dampers. Noticed them when putting on steps. Carfax didn't indicate any accidents. I found where some people are having luck rotating driveshaft at rear 180 degrees. May try that when i get home.

Does the vibration increase with speed or is constant just at a certain speed? On my 2005 it got a vibration and noticed it was a weight on the drive shaft missing(fell off).

Its usually around 55-60. Notice it more when pulling hills or towing trailer. Why did you ask about the dampers? Thanks!

I asked as I pulled mine off to sand and paint and get a faint shake around 45-60. Maybe not even a shake just a funny feeling maybe.

I first noticed it in the console. As I have had more time in the truck lately I have also noticed you can feel it in the floor and seats as well. Still more evident in the console since you can actually see it shaking with your eyes and its not just a feeling! There is a you tube video of a guy with a fixed console and a water bottle that seems to be similar.

Sounds like driveline issue if your gettin it more when towing..Wouldnt hurt just to look at the tire mounting itself..Just see if all the lil ridges/lines all match up with equal distence around the rim..Next i hat to say is maybe take tires off 1 rim at a time and have the rim checked...

balancing machines can go out of whack, too. I like the suggestion of checking the driveshaft. Maybe it lost a balancing weight, or maybe it got hit off roading. If you had some v- blocks and a dial indicator, it's a quick and dirty way to check it for runout. If you know someone with a lathe, and a couple of steady rests that would be the best method to check for runout.

You sure your not feeling the vibrations from mds being active, it shuts down 4 cyls and it will have a shake buffering feeling depending on if the other 4 cyls start to labor before it switches back to all 8 cyls.

I experienced the same thing you are going through when i bought my 13 express. The seat/ console vibrated on mine like crazy. Just one of those things i learned to live with.

Its not mds as i can shift into the + / - mode to turn MDS off and it still occurs. I gotta get this figured out as I have wheels/ lift/ and tires ready to go. I aint doing nothing till I get this straightened out though.

Wonder if front end is loose somewhere..How the tires wearing so far..Depending on the type of feeling your gettin, that may tell you where to look..When it shakes does it feel up and down or left to right??
Up and down is driveline/wheels and left to right(vice versa)might be front end outta wack..
