Can anyone with a bone stock truck between a 16 and 18 comment on personal success or failure doing these modifications?
Thanks for the info.If you're not going to tune it,you can do a 180 thermostat, "but" leave the clutch fan on in that scenario. If you want to delete the stock mechanical fan,you should really have a tune,so you can adjust the fans on/off parameters, but a 180 t-stat will work perfectly fine with-out a tune,as long as the clutch fan and shroud are still in place. I run a 180 T-stat in my wifes stock untuned 2016 Challenger and it works good
What's the model number? My 2018 is stock (meaning no tune) and I have a 190 stat that I haven't had time to put in yet. No future plans for a tune so I opted for the 190 instead of the 180. It's inexpensive so if it doesn't work very well, I'll just put the stock unit back in.

I've had both a 190 and a 180 tstat and the 180 is hands down better. The 190 cycles open and closed like the factory tstat. The 180 hits 185 and stays open so you get constant coolant flowing through the block which means more consistent engine temps without as many hot spots. 180 is the way to go.
Got a Stant 48799 from Rock Auto around $9.
Thanks but I'm looking at this one because of better warranty.

Thanks for the info good to know someone else has tested this in the same city.This. Have the 180 in mine. Coolant temp hasn't been past 190 and oil temp hasn't been past 200 since I put it in.
The computer is what needs the tune to turn on at a certain temp. I don’t believe these fans have a thermostat to determine that.
You could run a stand-alone fan controller. I’m looking at an autocool 55 controller. It’s pwm and self contained. That way I can tune it how I want. I’m looking at stacking the v6 fan over the stock fan to retain the factory on off with the Ac as well as a safety measureThanks being I will not be getting a tune I don't want to waste my money.
Did you have any change whatsoever in gas mileage? This. Have the 180 in mine. Coolant temp hasn't been past 190 and oil temp hasn't been past 200 since I put it in.
