2016 center console won't lock

Had my truck for less than a week and just realized the top compartment of the center console won't shut and lock.

I noticed when I tried to get in the lower compartment the top compartment flew open and all my stuff went flying.

Even when it's all shut, I can open the top compartment without using the locking mechanism.

This is my first ram. Anyone have issues like this?

I have heard of the same issue on other model years. In every case, the basic warranty covered it.

Every time I close mine I almost have to slam it to latch. Then it's like a hair trigger when I tap the release.

I have a 2013. I have to close it, then give it a slight push down to snap it completely shut.

^^ Yep. Same here, and mine is a '14. Kind of hard to lock down until you get used to it.

mine locks but ive shut it easy and had it fly open when opening the lower section, im sure there is some latch adjustment you could do.

I have to slam my '15 so hard to get it to latch that I actually broke the plastic latch 3 weeks after buying the truck. Dealership replaced it and it still doesn't latch. I adjusted it as well to no avail. I just kinda gave up and make sure I hold the top shut if I need to get into the lower compartment.

Mine shuts okay, but creaks and squeaks in the cold....pretty sure the two **** or guides on the lid that line up with the hole in the base are hitting or touching, I will be making a mod to see if it fixes.

Just cheap ****, but a simple system, should be something you can tweak without going to the dealer.....I hate when others work on my stuff...

I have a 15, with the same issue ....I have to give it a good slam to shut.
