Any help will be appreciated. 2016 ram 1500 power fold mirror with heated dimming glass. Bought the replacement heated dimmable glass. Watched video and seemed straightforward. Press in bottom, pull from top to release tabs, glass comes forward, unhook bottom tabs and take out. I noticed when I am pulling from the top, the mirror glass top latches aren’t releasing and the whole assembly behind the glass is coming forward too. The metal clips are out far enough but the top tabs aren’t releasing. If keep pulling it looks like I’ll pull off the whole mount behind the glass. Seems to tight of a gap at the top to get in there and try to separate. Please offer any help or tips. Thanks !

I thought the same on my 18 i had when i had to replace the drivers glass....i actually got enough of a gap to get a long flat head in there to help pop it off i had no worry of breaking cause i was replacing one that was cracked...worst part is trying to get it to snap back without cracking the new one.... just be aware of where the metal guides go cause i made the mistake of putting the guides in wrong and had to take it back off cause i had the guides in the wrong spot in the mirror housing and the mirror wouldnt move correctly

Thanks. Next warm spell I’m going to give it a try again. It was pretty cold when I tried so I’m sure that might have made it harder to get the clips to pop off. I was trying to get a screwdriver in to try to pry but didn’t see a good spot to set the head.

Done it a few times on both driver and passenger mirrors. Def requires some force and there is room on the top to squeeze in a trim tool or flat head to provide some encouragement.

Use a Plastic trim tool, NOT a metal screw driver. FAR less likely to break the old or new glass. If you can't get it out with the trim tool, take it to a glass shop. They usually charge 10 to 20 bucks to pop one in.

I need to replace my driver side mirror for a 2017 Dodge ram 1500 Laramie with heated glass and auto dimming, any suggestions on where to purchase? The dealership is crazy expensive! Also the part number that appears to be a fit is 68381787AA. I have the circle attachment on the back of the glass.

I purchased mine from one of the many mopar parts site. Was $250. If the auto dim isn’t something you care about (I do), you can get the non dimmable glass for less than $50

I couldn’t find a non-auto dimming with the round connection on the back of the mirror glass. All of the less expensive options have the square connection. I did find a cheap one but it was from a Chinese site. I would rather buy one from the U.S. if you have a site with the round connection with a non auto dimming glass that would be great. Thank you.

The back of my 2016 is square with a rounded top. See pic 1776722111531.png

Not sure what you are referencing regarding a round connection unless they changed it from 2016 to 2017, my connections for the heated part are blade connectors

Here is a link to a heated non-dimmable on Amazon for less than $20. https://www.amazon.com/Backing-Compatible-2011-2018-68079363AA-68050299AA/dp/B0BWJVVQG4/ref=sr_1_5_sspa?crid=2EPXO5LQAD2VW&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.buLrcx9OM1s8H4tUdRWjKuX82Mjf_j2GiQKEg-etLgczFN5fCw8F0v4OXbdgvSRLeVWoWhXSy6qgO-YXmZD3r7srw3HJNMMj0YC3TQ1A8mhFL0ySxDE7m426wqOa0eGSLy9WoE8X5UYC3ofaK3-1ESdAuz4kXrMRR71mEnxAReQB-7YgnnnrcCXvMTZADoGNch7Ltu4XGCZ8QLkNBxSAywhIFxfFyel_nPBSF_ibGPM.xJVitAl_Qqa3cNllyPKGb-U_pZI0Ua97p0s-55MreGE&dib_tag=se&keywords=2016+dodge+ram+drivers+side+mirror+glass&qid=1776722131&sprefix=2016+dodge+ram+drivers+side+mirror+glas,aps,417&sr=8-5-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9tdGY&th=1

This is the back of my side mirror glass. You can see the connection is different than the mirror glass that you sent me. That is what makes this so difficult, that they show various parts that they say fit my model year, and I found that they don't.
