my truck 7 pin brakes do not work. I also have the 5th wheel 7 pin in the bed. I’ve tested, charger, all lights work properly, brake shows a very weak signal, blinking on and off. The stock controller will read connected some time, sometime shows no connection. The controller set at 10, activated will activate brake magnets, not enough to slow trailer down at idle. I have also hooked to other trailers that the brakes worked, on dash says brakes not connected.
I’ve cleaned all pins. Looked at all wiring that I can get too, no issues.

The 7-pin in the bed is just a parallel connection of what's on the bumper. Have you pulled the connections off the back of the bumper plug and check for connection/corrosion issues there?
Most of the brake issues with OEM controller usually get reported back as a mechanical or electrical issue with the trailer brakes.
How the trailer brake controller determines if the trailer is connected is by the electrical characteristics of the braking circuit. There have been a few people reporting flakey trailer brake connection only to later report a bad magnet or two.

My 5th wheel is in the shop getting new brakes all around. I still think it’s from the truck. I have tried with6 other trailers with known functional brakes. Mine will either show brakes not connected or will not activate the brakes well enough to slow trailer down from an idle.

Pull the plugs off the back of the 7-pin that's in the bumper, if I remember correctly the one in the bed is hardwired. There have even been issues reported with the 7-pin jack in the bumper
