2016 Ram 2500 rough ride

I have a 2016 Ram 2500. The ride is real stiff. I installed the Thuren springs on the front, which helped. The rear I have kelderman air bags. They did not help at all. Bilstein shocks all the way around. Tire pressure at 65 psi. Stock height and tires. Any suggestions??? I need to get the ride better on this truck and I’m just throwing money at it.

IMHO I would start by letting some air out of those tires if your not hauling/towing much.

Unless they have weight in the bed they ride rough. Try lowering the rear tire pressure first and see if it helps any.

When riding empty, you could lower the air pressure in the rear to about 50. I used to run 45 in my rear tires when I had a 3500.

Rear tires down. If you’re empty drop it. Chalk it if you’re really worried. 20’s or 18’s?

The only thing that helps the ride in my 2500 is 5000 Lbs. in the bed. Then it rides like a Cadillac.

You did thuren fronts. You could do thuren rear coils.....but that’ll lift some but it will for sure smoothe out. You got bags already I think just a cradle spacer is needed to keep them.

Do you need a 2500? You kind of have 2 options. Keep dumping money into it to make it ride smoother (killing the load capacity and towing stability in the process). You could go with thuren rear coils but you will loose 30% of your load capacity and if that is okay you really don't "need" a 2500 to begin with so you might be better off in a 1500?

Unfortunately that's kind of the brutal truth of the matter.

This is the flat out reality of owning a 2500 truck. You could change suspension parts, but, like mtnrider said, you lose load capacity. Then you got guys telling you to let all the air out of your tires, so, you’d effectively have a truck less capable than if you just get a 1500.

This should not be a surprise. The airbag supplements the current suspension. A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Truck suspension is only as soft as its strongest component.

If/when I get a new HD truck I will get the Kelderman full air rear suspension. Rock hard when you need it. Cadillac ride when you don't. As others have said, HD trucks ride rough for a reason. Really, not much you can do other than get a 1500 truck.
