I am planning on changing the transaxle fluid on my 2017 1500 Ram Laraime. Te has 110, 000 miles and has never been changed. I saw the videos on YouTube and it does not look to difficult. I was hoping for advice what weight of fluid do you recommend and how many quarts for the rear and the front.

Thank you for any input.

Incredibly easy. Your owner's manual will have the weight in it...but...75w-90 all around is good or you can do 75w-90 up front and 75w-140 in the rear. 2 qts for the front & 3 for the rear. You'll have some left over. If you have limited slip, get the friction modifier unless you get the gear oil with the friction mod in it already (i.e. Valvoline or Amsoil).

It's not a trans axle, it is separate from trans, so if you mean axle yes super easy. 75w90 front, 75w140 rear. I think you need 2 quarts upfront 3 quarts in the rear, wont take it all, but it's been a while.

Would be helpful if OP gave more details on what he has, like 2x4 / 4x4 and such. Kinda changes the requirements.
Don't forget the friction modifier in the rear if it is a limited slip diff.

It's been a long while since the oil industry self mandated friction modifier in all gear fluids. So the only way to get a gear fluids w/o modifier is to order it specifically. You cant even get m1 gear fluids w/o it already in. The industry has "determined" there was no downside for have modifier in the formula even for open diffs. I don't necessarily agree with that, but they win on that one. the benefit has been most of us never have to worry about chatter because the options are not on the shelf unless you buy off the real HD shelf as in for rigs. The bottom line the only thing a dyir needs to know if you get chatter just add anti slip and ounce at a time til it disappears because too much is bad consequence as well. So thanks for bringing that up so op knows about any possibility of chatter. It is also "possible" the formula doesn't have enough anti slip, so even if it has anti slip in the formula like they all do, it doesn't mean there is enough in there. Every once in a while someone has to add more even with it in.

I like those Valvoline bags, they copied Amsoil, pretty good you don't need a pump OP, think about it. Good oil plus bags make it easy from post above.

I have and have had a variety of G80 GM locking differentials that were built for straight conventional gear oil. The differentials run with conventional gear oil with no additives lived the longest. The one 1500 G80 had friction modifier added by the dealer and the Synthetic gear oil with added modifier and it had to be rebuilt a few times. I learned, specs are specs and written for a reason after testing. On the torco website, there appears to be a difference in friction modifiers. It appears Ford and MOPAR are equivalent and GM is different. The specifications are listed. To avoid getting the amount added wrong, it appears to be added 2.5-5 percent by weight.

I just did the front /rear axle and transfer case on my 2017. Just go to the amsoil site and search your vehicle. Doesn't get any easier.

That is unless you have a BW 44-44 or 44-45 transfer case then Amsoil does not have a recommended fluid to use
I use amsoil for my 44-45.

The same amsoil atf works for both 44-44 and 44-45. Just enter your truck details and thr compatible fluid will be there.

Amsoil does not have a recommendation for the BW 44-45 or 44-44 transfer case fluid for my 2022, they do have one for the BW 44-46 to BW 44-49 but nothing for the 44-44 and 44-45 used in the 2022, 2500 HD trucks. FYI I just looked again to be sure, what model year does your photo cover?

Amsoil must have a reason to not list any of their products for usage in the 2022 BW 44-44 an 44-45
I think there was an internal mechanical of the 45 that added clutches somewhere around 2016. Before that, they were both Dexron or ATF+4 for MOPAR applications. The high priced unicorn pi$$ is for the 44 and the one bottle is for KISS so the parts guys won’t make a mistake and hand out the wrong fluid to kill the 44. It is overkill for the 45 but is just like having gear oil with friction modifier in an open differential. It’s not needed, but won’t hurt it

I wish Amsoil would have a listed product as I don't like the idea of paying $35 qt for that magic fairy dust fluid, being I still have 4 years or 75K warranty left I have to pay their inflated price for fluid just to be sure I don't ***** my warranty...
