2017 ram express dropping tailgate

I just bought a 2017 RM 1500, I'm having the issue that I hear that there is a common problem -- that the tailgate drops due to the power lock once the vehicle hits 15 miles an hour. I saw a video online about replacing the unit, any other quick fixtures until I get that taken care of?

Is this the recall where the solenoid breaks a stop tab?.


Should be a free repair or maintenance by dealer. I ended up buying the rubber bumpstop off the internet and doing ti myself. 15 minutes vs all day at dealer

Yes, this is that very problem. I just relocated back to New York from Florida and I am looking at at least a three week late wait before I can get an appointment at the body shop. I would love to see a picture if you had taken one of what you did to correct the problem, I watch the video and it seemed pretty self-explanatory but I currently have thick rubber bungee cord holding the tailgate shut in the event it open while I’m driving

Mine wasn't damaged yet. It honesty just a piece of rubber that slips on.

I had the recall done on my '14. They were done before I could walk the entire lot. In and out. If it takes all day, then your dealership has some major issues.
