2018 1500 vs 3500 width (for roof rack)

I'm trying to source a simple 2 bar roof rack. Redrock makes a rack for the 1500 (ie the 'popular truck) that gets decent reviews but I have a 3500 and would like to know if that rack would fit my truck. The more expensive Rhino rack will fit both (but has longer cross bars). Professor Google says both trucks are the same width (79.4"). My local Ram dealer parts dept says they are likely the same.

Does anyone actually know (or know where I could get this info)?

Do you own a measuring tape? Measure your roof, talk to the guy that makes the rack you want and see if it is wide enough. Doesn't really matter about the 1500 as there are a raft of choices, Classic, 5th Gen, single cab, quad, crew etc., not to mention year of production.

Check out the gap between the canopy and the top of the cab. 1500 Quad cab canopy on a 1500 crew cab. Clearly not the right fit.

That vintage (4th gen) the cabs are the same for half tons and hd’s. Just make sure you get one for the crew cab.

Im extremely surprised they dont market it for the 2500/3500’s. Thats just weird.
