Hi guys,

So, I thought it was my imagination. I thought it was my knee hitting the keys and accidentally turning the truck off.

I just turned a corner in downtown Austin, on my way to work, and the truck just flat out died right there, mid turn. My knee was nowhere near the keys and I did not "do" anything, I was just turning a corner.

This has happened like.. half a dozen times, sporadically, since I have owned the truck, a few months now... maybe 6 months? I have like 7300 miles on the truck, that is all. It has been serviced one time, and this happened before and after this service.

Anyone else heard of or seen anything like this?

I assume you have a key fob with must be inserted and turned? If so there is a couple of threads stating the weight of keys etc cause it to stop working.

I do have a fob. I only have... 3 other keys on it? Should not be an issue, but I will look at it just in case, thanks!

Also, along the same lines, I have had the cruise control just shut off at random times. Again, I thought I had touched something or whatever.. but, it is now seeming as if there is something going on. I would be driving, cruise control set and then all of a sudden.. it is off and my truck is slowing down.

Can't be a coincidence.

I wonder if it is related to the cruise control recall that is out now?

Sounds like an intermittent connection, maybe on the PCM or in one of the fuse / relay boxes.

Of course you need to take it to dealer but it would be good if you could make it do it on "command" like knowing that taking a left turn at a certain speed or going a certain speed down a local bumpy road that you can drag the mechanic along & show him.

Good luck.

One suggestion, check that the battery connections are tight. Other than that let them figure it out before it puts you in a dangerous position like in front of a speeding 18 wheeler.

I hear ya, and if this were not under warranty, I would do a lot of that. What I do not want to do is fiddle with something then get into a "you messed it up so..." discussion. So long as it is under warranty, not "breaking the seal" on anything.

That being said, now that I know it is not "me".. lol.. if it occurs again, I will be keeping an eye out for it... i.e. this time, I was turning right.

Hi Russ,

I am sorry to hear that this has happened with your Ram truck. I understand how frustrating this must be. We recommend having your local Ram dealer diagnose this concern. If you are in need of additional assistance while your truck is in service, please send us a private message with your VIN and mileage.

It is okay, I took the truck to them and they are looking at it. I explained to them that I do not expect them to magically fix it. I suspect they may tell me "they did not find anything"... that is fine, so long as we eventually fix it. Not finding anything just means it will happen again. So far, it has not been a major issue, annoying and embarrassing when it happens, but.. it could just as easily turn bad if it occurred while moving and someone else hits me or I hit someone else due to being unable to turn etc.

Thanks
