Glad to see you back. You white Ram was an inspiration for mine. Your RamBar ended up back on a 5th gen BTW...
Nice! I appreciate that. It was a good truck. I’m glad to see that RamBar going to good use. Do you like your shell better?

Yeah it keeps the equipment dry and much less dust.

You need black headlights... AND have you sent any updates to 'gram because I haen't seen em... :)
I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on some alpha rex's, but the rear bumper needs love & I need some steps/sliders first.

Added a set of Power Wagon sliders to the Ram. The install was a pain — definitely go with the factory Ram nutserts instead of the generic ones. The pinch weld + cab mount combo makes the sliders incredibly solid, but it also makes them tough to get on.

Would a pair of WKO sliders be better? Sure. But the kind of trail difficulty where these would fall short is the same level where you’d be breaking other parts of the truck long before you needed true frame-mounted sliders. These things are seriously beefy and will absolutely support the weight of the truck — as proven by the jack photo.

First real trip in the truck—about 2,500 miles—and I’ve learned a few things. It has two sweet spots for fuel mileage: 65–68 mph and 80–83 mph. Anything in between and it hunts between 7th and 8th gear. I definitely wasn’t expecting better mileage at 83 than at 73… gotta love a diesel. The truck drives great overall.

Eventually I’ll upgrade to 6112s up front and maybe some rear control arms. I’m also running +4° caster, which really helps keep the tires from rubbing.

What I don’t love are the Toyo RTs. Even with a 2024 date code they’re already cracking, wearing fast, and are terrible in the rain.

So… do I jump to 37s next?

Had Toyo open country's on my 2002 cummins back in the day and I remember it wouldn't move for S**t in the snow. It had to be in 4 wheel everywhere even on a half plowed driveway. They wore and rode great in summer but damn they sucked in the snow.

ooff that doesn't look good.
So far so good. P.O. Had never cleaned it out. Truck is running well now that's its getting the appropriate amount of DEF. Hopefully this spring some exhaust components might just "fall off".

Ol girl got some new shoes.
35x12.5r17 General Grabber ATX. Loved them so much on the last RAM I decided to go with them again. Forgot how quiet the truck could be. The R/Ts had gotten very loud in comparison.

I had the same issue with my Toyo At3s once they got to about 1/2 tread. Went from love to hate real quick with the wet/snow traction. Ironically I just ran into your YT vid on these as I'm cross shopping some ATs for my Tundra and the Grabbers are one of the few I'm considering.

GDE tuning. They now have a tune file available called "Afterlife" tuning. Not sure if you're familiar with it or not but check it out. It's a scalable tune where you can disable whatever you want/need. I've had some form of a GDE tune since I've owned this truck and they are a great company to deal with and their tunes are good.

I’ve been very happy with the generals. They’ve been on 5 of my vehicles now. Ranger, Xterra, both Rams & one of my Chevy work vans. Also they are made in the USA.

Are you “EPA compliant” on your RAM still?

I always see mixed reviews on them. And tires are too expensive to take a gamble on anymore. Analysis paralysis.

I am still. 100% intact and compliant. 260k on it now. Honestly I had the GDE compliant tune for the past 60k and it's been awesome. I recently just found out about the afterlife tuning and upgraded to that. Intent was to just shut off EGR and continue on similar to their original tune. My truck is strictly a commuter at this point and all highway miles so the DPF/SCR doesn't bother me and my DEF lasts decent. I do intend to delete it if the system gives me issues and I think it'll be worth the cost. That's where I think the GDE is nice, you can add changes to your tune file as you need for minimal cost.

The truck is currently down for another big labor job. Reluctor wheel went out a month ago and with it being holidays shops just couldn't get to it. If I can give you any forewarning. Save up for the turbo coolant bypass hose/upper intake swap and for the reluctor wheel/CPS. This truck has been awesome, except I swear all the problematic small niggles are such a labor intensive repair they almost become unaffordable.

With my fleet pricing at discount tire I was able to get the 4 generals for around 1300 installed. - pretty good for 35s IMO. They clearly have my stamp of approval

I'll give them a call after the holidays and see what will be best. Thanks!!

Awesome, I'll surely give them a harder look when the time comes. Bonus points they have the second best looking white letters in the business.

I can't say anything but good things with my GDE experience. Their trans tune alone was enough to make the truck totally different. If these tunes are anything like the Pre EPA tunes they're gonna be great.

Generals as expected were amazing in the latest snow storm.IMG_0098.jpeg

Also glad I stayed with a 35 instead of making the jump to 37s. This truck is seeing a decent amount of use as an actual work truck pulling a trailer almost daily.
