Peak hp is at 5600 rpm. Peak tq is at 4000 rpm. As far as I have seen the max rpm is 5800, but that was with the 66RFE; I don't know if it changed with the 8HP75 (it was lower max rpm with Aisin in the 10k plus trucks). That being said, spinning the HD 6.4 anywhere near 6k rpm's is not on the list of things I hope to accomplish.

Any particular reason you ask?

If you are trying to do anything you'll see PLENTY of time over 3K RPM.
maybe he likes hear people honk the horn at him and letting him know he's #1

on a serious note people seem to have the misguided perception that high rpms equates to engine abuse. Lugging and not utilizing the HP/torque band of the engine is more harmful in the long run.

trust me if you romp on it and keep your foot into it you will be over 6000 RPM pretty fast.
