All hooked up with someplace to go!

Heading up to Niagara Falls in the morning for the week, Branches of Niagara campground on Grand Island. Planning on doing a few 12 ounce curls and see how big of dent I can put in my bottle of Gentleman's Jack. I'm sure my wife has things she wants to do to, we'll see how that plays out :drink_nl:

Just got back from my 5th short trip this year which is more than last year when I moved. No rain out West but plenty of fires :(

IMG_3399.jpg

Funny the last 3 pics are 2500 Hemis with the Tradesman steel wheels. :)

I just swapped mine with my 3rd Gen lol. So they are SLT wheels. Ha ha

I couldn't swap the center caps...the lug nuts are different. So it is a Hybrid now. 20200812_200213.jpg

DD - your rig looks nearly identical to my 1989 Layton. Same color scheme and all. I had to do a double take.

If you search my prior posts, I have a photo of it from last year when I had it out for annual inspection.

I do like my 80s rigs. My Layton has its original, uncoated, 1 piece aluminum roof on it which is still in good shape. Most rigs built today will long be scrap before they are 31 yrs old.

The old adage holds true. If you can keep the water out of them, they will last a long time.

I believe ours is a 1987. Yukon wilderness 24C.

We took the 80s furnishings out and put in vinyl hardwood flooring.

It is just perfect for our type if camping. It is due for tires and a new canopy.

We have had it for many years and just can not find a suitable replacement.

That's excellent! Mine is still original (but very clean) inside. I try to take good care of it.

I had a 1987 wilderness Yukon 25 or 26C basement model years ago. That was a very heavy, but solid rig also.

Hey y'all, I mentioned this in another thread, but we got out agsin this weekend. Absolutely beautiful weather, perfect fall camping. I took Friday off, relaxed, and went for a nice hike in the woods.

I will say i was absolutely shocked at the number of people there for this time in October. It was packed! First time I've ever seen a "no vacancy" sign up out front!

This time of year is typically pretty empty with school in session and fall sports going on. Tons of Maryland plates wae the big reason why. I'm beginning to think they need to charge them higher rates to reduce the number of out of state people. It's part of the reason I have such a hard time getting decent sites anymore.

I think Maryland schools may not have fall sports or in person classes, is part of the reason. Who knows? But it was a fun weekend and great weather. Have a good Monday ya'll.

In PA it does cost more for out of state people to camp. We are usually alone at the camp grounds this time of year. This year is like a perpetual holiday weekend.

Good for revenue...not good for getting away.

But...hopefully the extra income will go to making our experience even better once the fad dies off.

Hey y'all, good morning.

As I write this, the number of Corona cases in my state are going up by larger numbers every day.

All state parks are closed. I usually dewinterize, clean inside and out wax and prep the tt the middle to end of April. However I wonder if I should even bother this year?

While I'm a glass half full guy, I'm also realistic. Probably not nationwide, but for those of us in the east where things are bad, stay at home orders, etc...do you think 2020 will be the camping season that never was?

I am an optimist, but I'm thinking it's not looking good this year, unless possibly late summer/early fall.

What do y'all think?
What wax to u use on your RV?

I just use automotive wax, I like meguiars cleaner/wax one step. I don't have the time or energy for multiple step waxes.

It does a nice job. Takes any black streaks left over from the black streak remover right off.

You got that right! I've never seen it so full as I have this year. Its been really popular but this year takes the cake. I also don't want to seem unwelcoming to our out of state friends, but when the residents and tax payers can't get decent sites its frustrating, to say the least.

I think there was more marylanders, New Jersey and New York there than pa residents this weekend. Crazy stuff.

Sorry to admit it, but I'm one of those jersey guys that camps 95% in Pa, other than our big trips each year. Need to get out of this godforsaken state as often as I can. Can't wait to retire in a few years and move the H#!! out.

I don't blame you one bit. I'm not a big NJ fan for many reasons I won't state here or MD for that matter. When I see so many out of state plates as I walk the campground loops I think to myself "don't they have any decent campgrounds in their own state?..." I know if I had to travel a long distance for just a weekend I likely wouldn't camp anymore. It's too much work and windshield time for just the weekend in that scenario, but that just me.

It is what it is, but it's very frustrating.

Just wrapped up a two week trip through northern Nevada and Southern Idaho. Had no reservations at all other than a couple of RV park layovers en route to destinations. Stayed at Forest Service campgrounds or BLM sites, we mostly dry camp or boondock.

Man that is awesome! Beautiful country! If it wasn't so hard to post pics here, I'd post some of my last trip out. You used to be able to attach them direct from your device, which was great, now it asks for a url, which I just don't have time to meet with.

Looks like was a great trip!

Really nice! I am wanting to do some camping out west. Hoping I don't have to wait until I am retired. It just really hard to get that many days off in a row for me.
