The tailgate and bedsides are the same from the Tradesman to Laramie Longhorn trim levels.

The part number for the factory damper referenced in a previous post is what you need.

Remove the passenger rear tail light and you’ll have access to install the damper on the factory tailgate and bedside nipples.

I did this on my 2020 2500 Tradesman for about $30 shipped and now have the factory tailgate damper.

Oh wow, you gotta remove the whole taillight. Wish the Classic models did that.

Yeah that would be nice. I know a couple people looked into to retro fitting all the pieces in a pre 2019 truck but it's just not possible (within reason that is).

Instructions says 1500 driver side only. When I go to their website and put my truck info in the only option they gave me is the one that is mounted outside

If you put in 2020 2500 you will see it comes up with 2 parts numbers that fit. The second one (DZ43302) is the same part for the 1500 that is inside the taillight. Probably just haven't updated the instructions. I wouldn't trust they have the right picture showing on the page either as they show the old style for the 1500 as well.

But I would contact them if you have any doubts, I'm only going by what the web site says

I own a 2019 tradesman, as previously stated the strut arm is under the drivers side tail light . Moparparts has the strut . Simple install

I don't want to step on anybodies toes but.....................When I looked up part numbers for the dampener for my 2019 ram 2500 I got a different number #68362518AA. The part # referenced above will not fit my truck. I also ordered on from EBay that fits 2019 and up trucks. When I got it I found out why it only fits the 1500 series trucks. The way it actuates is the opposite of the 2500 truck. It also installs on the driver side. When My tail gate opens the cylinder will be pulled out and the 1500, it will be pushed in. I'm trying to contact seller now and return it.

Part number for a 2020 Ram 2500 tradesman is 68362518AA, it installs behind the Passenger side taillight, after removing the two screw that hold the tail light it slides out towards the back of the vehicle, you can install the strut to the top nub from the top and it is easier to install the bottom of the strut from under the truck reaching up in the little opening. I purchased mine from OEM Parts and here is a link to the strut itself

I know, old thread. However, it was helpful, and I just installed the OEM damper on my 2020 2500. Took about 10 minutes.
