2020 Ram Limited Air Suspension Lift Kits.

Hello Everyone,
[I][B]This is my 2020 Ram 1500 Limited with Air Suspension. I have owned the truck over a year now and I am ready to lift it. Here’s the dilemma there’s only a few kits to choose from and I have narrowed it down to the 4” BDS kit or the 6” ReadyLift kit. What are the pros of going with 4” over 6” or vice versa. Also would it be beneficial just to go ahead and delete the air ride and move to coil overs and springs? I have read a lot of negative things about the air ride I do however live in central Texas where it’s not freezing very many days a year. I love the air suspension but I would hate to spend thousands to get it lifted and then the air suspension go out and spend thousands more to get it fixed. Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated if you have pictures please post them in this chain as well.[ATTACH type="full"]539775[/ATTACH][/B][/I]

Do not know how much you want to lift it but they make adjustable links for the ride height adjustment to go higher and lower kits. The air ride is what make these trucks plush and would never dump the setup.

I just had the BDS 4' installed on my 2024 1500 w/air suspension. I have a pretty short garage door so i was limited to the 4 inch kit, The ride is fantastic... just like stock, but 4 inches higher. The stock air ride works that same as before. I will be replacing the wheels/tires with 35's which wll raise it another 1.5 inches. i just will need to remeber to lower it down to entry mode before pulling in.

I have heard good things about the Readylift's too.

I had the dealer install it to hopefully help with any issues that may arise.

BDS is better.
Winter does make air ride a problem but they all go because plastic air bags fed by plastic lines will always be a ticking time bomb. We do the coilover conversion all the time and 100% of the customers say that the coilovers ride better than the air ride.

you do realize the airbags and lines are made out of the same thing that hiway trucks have been using since they switched to air suspension..

SOme people have luck with the air ride and some its a nightmare.. its a crap shoot if you put the lift in and the system stays flawless while you own it. I switched to coils and quite honestly i cannot tell the difference in ride between the air system and the coils.

Trucks are maintained by fleet companies and they replace a lot of parts regularly. Daily driven pick up trucks with air tanks pinned between the bed and frame making them not serviceable don’t get that same level of maintenance. Rams are not the inventor of this Lincoln and GM have been having problems since the 90’s with these systems. As you say you went to coil and didn’t notice a difference. Imagine if you went to coilovers in the front and a progressive rate spring in the rear.

My 2014 Limited with air ride is anything but “plush”. I even replaced fhe crap OSM shocks with softer riding Fox shocks. That helped a bit but it’s still in no way plush over any type of road irregularities, gravel, speed bumps, etc. But the air ride comes in handy. I like the ability to lower it to get into parking garages (I have an 2.5” PA body lift plus the leveling links up front to decrease the rake). The air ride’s load leveling is also great when towing. My air ride rides much better with a load in the bed. In general the rear suspension is harsh on the air ride, even with the softer Fox shocks, at least in mine, but it’s not so harsh that I want to spend the $ to delete the air ride. I would keep it and add the BDS lift.
