im trying to purchase a 2020 ram limited with the black appearance package. dealer wants 62k for it but I have seen a lot of people getting it down to 57k. this one doesn't even have the multifunction tailgate or ram boxes. they will not budge off the price what so ever. any advise on the price?

Welcome aboard! I just bought pretty much the same truck you're looking at this past Monday!

Up here, the lowest I've seen them is bit more than that, within a 5 hour drive of my house. Local dealer wouldn't give me that either, they were a little higher. I ended up negotiating my trade-in up when they wouldn't budge on sticker price. Not the best deal, but was good enough for me not to walk way (and I didn't want to drive 3-4 hours to maybe save $2k at a dealership that has a bad reputation, and possibly not get as good a trade-in value, negating or at least cutting into those savings).

Some dealers are willing to bend over to make a deal right now due to low volumes from the factory, others are counting on high demand for those low volumes. In my area, it was the latter, but I'm happy. Love the truck, and 12% off MSRP (what my price tag was) ain't bad at all.

It all depends on you. If you can live with an extra couple thousand (or however much) on your truck loan and be happy, go for it. If you are one of those guys that has to have the perfect deal, the big discounts, you'll probably end up driving a distance to get it.

I have a feeling that at least a few of those people who are boasting about getting a great price are either not being honest about what they really paid, or are leaving details out. Not saying everyone is lying, just that I'm not convinced about some of the claims I've seen. My take on this is if you're happy with the deal, then buy it. If not, keep looking.

I usually try to avoid reading any threads where people give details of the deals they got. Especially after I buy a vehicle. Because someone always gets a better deal. Those threads serve no real purpose other than to make themselves feel good, and make other people feel bad. After you sign your life away there is nothing you can really do about it, and telling someone they paid way too much only makes them feel bad. For the same reason, I don't tell people my opinion of the deal they get, especially if I feel they didn't do well. Buying a new (or used) car or truck should be something that makes you happy. Why would anyone want to kill that feeling someone is having by telling themthey got a crappy deal?

The advice is the same no matter what you're negotiating on. Walk away. If they're not moving at all on the price it's because they think they've "got" you. There's always room in a deal.

I just bought my new Ram after looking at trucks since March/April. I figured that there would be excellent deals available due to folks being out of work/covid etc etc. The problem is that supply is down so prices are up. I personally watched at least a half dozen trucks disappear from dealer lots while I twiddled my thumbs, waiting to make a deal. I was lucky and found a truck that was equipped pretty much how I would have ordered one and I was able to negotiate a FAIR price. Outstanding deal? No. Fair price for the dealer and me? Yes. New truck that I love in my driveway? Yes.
