I managed to put the first dent in the rear bumper of my Night Edition 2022 Ram 1500 Limited. I was backing up behind an auto parts store after I realized that I couldn't circle their building. In backing up, I managed to hit a stone wall on the passenger side corner of the rear bumper. Interestingly, my rear parking sensor didn't indicate that I was closing in on the short stone wall, but regardless I now have a dimple (and paint scrape) at the exact corner of the bumper.
As you can imagine, I am thoroughly disgusted with myself for having missed seeing the stone wall when backing up, but least it wasn't another vehicle. The questions I'm asking myself are:
1) Should I just ignore this scar on my three month old truck and write it off as the first of many scrapes the truck will get?
2) Should I attempt to remove the bumper, pound out the dimple, and rattle can it with some matching color paint (bumper is dark charcoal gray)
3) Should I take the truck to a body shop and have them do the repair?
4) Should I attempt to find the part number, buy a new bumper, get it professionally painted, and then install it myself?
Thoughts?
PS. The truck has dual exhausts and parking sensors (although what good did they do me this time). Any assistiance in locating the part number for this steel bumper will be appreciated.
