Good Afternoon I have a 2025 Ram Tradesman with the 3.6 e-torque truck has less than a 1000 miles went out last week started truck and check engine light comes on drive straight to dealership and he states that I need to run premium fuel at least every other tank to stop this from happening is it just me or does this sound like BS. Nothing in the manual states to use anything other than regular unleaded I could understand if I had the turbo or twin turbo engine but this is a damn V6. Anyone else had this happen on their new Ram.

BS! My 4th Gen 3.6 ran to 80k miles on 87 and no issues. This 5th Gen has now run 92,000 on 87 and no issues. I would like to know what the code was. That will tell more than the dealer ignoring something that might be lot rot related... depending on how long it sat before they sold it to you.

Clay282: When I bought the truck there were only 3 on the lot it is an 2025 model.
Scottly: Thanks for the Disertation, I will try to remember to use proper punctuation. By the way if you are going to slam others for a post please make sure your comment makes sense. Have a great evening.

I agree with the others. I have a chrysler minivan with the same 3.6 engine and no CEL running with the cheapest gas I can find. The manual should say if the gas needs to be premium or not. Seems as if there has been a lot of threads on here lately with electrical gremlins in the new 24 and 25s. Too bad you didnt capture the code, that maybe would point you in the right direction.

I've got a Jeep with that 3.6. Terrible motor, but it does not need premium fuel. It is a high compression motor with variable valve timing. The only way premium fuel will shut of the CEL is the VVT isn't working, but then the VVT should be throwing its own code.

If your CEL is still on, go to Autozne or your parts store of choice and have them read the codes. Take that printout back to your dealer and demand they fix it. Or find a new dealer and try again.
