My Ram 2500 6.4L gas (with the Rebel offroad kit), with only about 2000 miles on it (but 150+ offroad miles), started making some bad metal-on-metal popping sounds going over bumps, and metal vibration sounds when driving down bumpy roads. I found reports online of this being related to loose sway bar linkages, and sure enough, crawling under the truck (with my son rocking it) you could clearly see the sway bar links shifting.
I took it to the dealer and I'm glad I did--they reported that not only were the sway bar links under-torqued, several other components were as well. It drives like a completely different truck now.. in a good way.. Very happy.
I'm curious if anyone knows where to obtain a maintenance manual that has the torque specs for the suspension components, in case I want to do this myself? It seems like it might be good practice to check the torque on a few of these components before/after taking the truck offroad.
