i have a question, i have a leveling kit on my 2010 2wd 1500 Sport and it has shock extensions, now the shock extensions have effed up the threads on my shock so now its loose and will not thread properly onto the stud of the shock.(it just slips on and off the stud) my question is, is there a shock out there for a 2WD that is longer so i can get rid of the effed up shock extensions?

i really don't want to buy stock shocks and buy new extensions.

thanks

I've been told you can use 2500 shocks, they are a lil longer and work well with a level.

Why did you need shock extensions for just a leveling kit? I leveled mine and just kept the factory shocks as is.

They tend to top out on travel. The 2500 shocks work great. They're what I used with my 2" level

Hey Reo. Did you put on stock 2500 shocks or aftermarket? Would you happen to have a part #? I've been looking into the bilsteins BSN-24-186063, I have the same top out issue.

Just understand that if those shocks are longer in travel, the a-arm WILL hit the coil bucket, that is why they use the stock ones length, if your shocks are longer, jack it up off the ground look at the top of the coil bucket where the a -arm can hit it.....Justin,.... dont understand what you mean the shocks wont reach, my spacers on my CST 7 inch, are 2.5 inches and the stock shock length are on there perfect.... I have tried the 1.5 , 2 ", 2.5" and also the 3", spacers when I was lifting this one, back in 09

well, the 2500 shocks worked out PERFECT, the extended length was the perfect amount of length to get rid of the shock extensions. thanks.

What i meant is full droop, like when the truck goes over a pothole while flying down the road, the wheel will follow the hole down and the upper control arm will drop down and so will the lower control arm, if something doesnt stop the travel ...(ie. the length of a stock shock) the upper control arm will hit the top of the coil bucket, before it it tops out, this is bad....I know if you put on shock that are just 1/4 inch longer ,you probably could get away with it, but if they were 2 inches longer they will hit, so if you jack up the front wheel off of the ground and look at the upper control arm , does it touch the top of the coil bucket?, and like I said before, unless the 2012 has a completly different control arm and coil bucket than the 09/10, the info is correct.
just trying to help
here is mine off of the ground and here is the clearence with 2.5 spacers and stock shocks, if the shock was longer the control arm would hit, can you see the mark at the bottom of the circle, left when the shock was removed and it was sitting on the coil bucket , before I put them back on?

I'm running into the same issue needing longer shocks. You guys running 2500 shocks, are you using 2500 2wd or 4wd shocks? Which brand and model #'s too? Thanks for the help.

I have a 2.5" level on a 2wd and just wanna make sure to get the right shock.

1.5" leveling spacer by Daystar

do you guys have any issues with any of the ball joint or ball joint boot. what I mean buy that is, do they crack due to different angle that they sit after spacer installation.

This is crazy how different all our trucks are even if they are the same. I also have a 2wd and I put a 2.5" spacer and when I attached the shock extensions it was actually too long. So I couldn't use them but now my ride is a lot more bouncy so I may try to install the extenders again or buy bilsteins or Rancho's to see if that helps
