I just found out that my brand new RAM 3500 SRW 4x4 with 5th wheel prep pack is too tall (59.5" tail gate, 39.5" bed) to tow 5th wheel trailers. Does anyone have any ideas that do NOT violate the warranties and still provide the required 6" rail clearance? Consider this an SOS/MAYDAY. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Your truck isnt too tall, your 5th wheel is too short. They have spring over kits to put the leaf springs on top of the springs instead of below them. That is what usually happens.

Flip the axles in your 5er. If that's not enough, there are shackle lifts out there to get 2-"4 additional.

It's so common to raise trailers of all kind, there was an article in 'Trailer Life' magazine last year on how to do it yourself.

WHAT??? First I've heard of this, we bought our 3500 SRW 4x4 with tow prep pack, for this exact reason, if it's to tall I'll be pi$$ed. I didn't raise the truck because of warranty reason and I really don't want to have to raise a new fifth wheel, again for warranty reason on the fifth wheel. Someone have to full story about this?:gr_guns:

WHAT??? First I've heard of this,

That's because it's baloney. Who ever told this to the OP is a moron.

'14 Laramie 3500 4x4 DRW pulling a 320 Columbus. He tells me he's pulled it about 6,000 miles without a single mishap.

Moral of the story: don't believe self proclaimed experts as they are usually anything BUT an expert.

The pin weight will compress your rear springs and your ride height will absolutely change. You will be fine.

I too had this fear until I went and actually got my fifth wheel out of storage. I've got a 2 inch level kit on my truck so it looks like its sagging but it's exactly 2 inches. Still have a good 6 inches of space.
