3rd Brake Light?

Ordered a 3rd brake light smoked out but any lens that’s a smoke I think is illegal.... Even thought it says DOT approved online!! Have to try and cancel now.

Sooooo...anyone have any recommendations for black housing 3rd brake light LED but with a CLEAR lens.

Have a smoked black tail light coming but the lens is clear so that should be fully legally and states on the housing its DOT and SAE complaint.

Amen. Absolutely everything and everything is illegal here. How do they not have billions in surplus already and the streets paved of gold ughhh hate it.

Lol its illegal here also. If it isn't oem then no good. I have never ever heard of someone getting a ticket for that reason. Just make sure your lights show through really good. I think is more or less one of those law they can use to pile on the fines to make something stick.

It’s illegal in Ohio as well but I’ve never heard of anyone getting a ticket for them as long as the light emitting is reasonably bright and easily seen.

That's crazy state laws. Texas had rules on the law for the actual rear taillights but the 3rd brake light was extra, couldn't enforce anything unless it emitted the wrong color.

I think that given it's only the 3rd brake light and not the tail lights, you should be fine. I'd worry more about keeping the water out.

Pardon if I’m being ignorant first day with nice weather and recovering from the flu but couldn’t wait to install new tail lights and 3rd brake light. (New tail lights came scratched didn’t realize until I installed so have to fight that then the 3rd brake light had to use almost a whole tube of silicon to seal fully).

Anyway.


QUESTION:

3rd brake light.

Is it always lit while truck is on or when in drive? I can’t remember what my stock was almost think it was always on..

Hoping I don’t need to tear that apart now and return that as well ughhh getting sick or “real truck”

Mine is not on during normal operation, only when manually turned on, brake lights on, goops open and etc... It is normal as far as I know for it not to be illuminated during the day in standard daylight.

If you are in the dark, it should be on.

Press the cargo light button by the headlight switch and see if it goes off

By the way, I love that hydro blue. I have a copperhead pearl sport that is nice, the hydro blue wasn't out yet when i bought or else i likely wood have grabbed that color. So nice.

Pushing cargo light just turns the “reverse white LED” on or off never initiated red brake light. When I push the brake it illuminates the brake light or when in reverse but ran a video and it doesn’t stay on while truck is on in the dark with all other lights on and even while in drive... UGHHHH.

And thanks!! Love the blue!! I’ve seen many sharp whites though but I’ve had blue vehicles for past 4 now guess it’s the eyes hahaha.

Wait reverse doesn’t even initiate the reverse lights on this POS only cargo light button does.

Yea verified again individual video get in trucks on put to drive floor it a bit then back to park. Only lights when I’m on brake.

The cargo lights aren't tied to the reverse lights.

3rd brake light should only light when brake pad is pushed and there shouldn’t be a reverse function just cargo light.

But still should have a “daytime running” illuminations especially at night when tail light is illuminated right?
