I got the 5X10 remote/alarm system. I still haven't installed it. It's a little more extensive of uninstall then I thought. It says that I was supposed to receive a VIP password to update and program the unit. In the instructions from Doug, it says the password would be emailed to me. I contacted him, no replies yet.

I don't know the difference. Mine says Directed 5X10 on the brain but while trying to program mine via the PC software it keeps defaulting to the DB3 setting.

I went with one of the kits on ebay that has the T harness. It's a simple 20 minute install and a couple minutes to flash it. Works like a charm. Just installed it early this week.

This is the one I bought: https://www.ebay.com/itm/202130910782

I purchased the Directed 5x10 remote start / alarm kit from Doug on Ebay. I tore it out today!! I received the kit pretty fast from Doug but it took him 3 days and 2 emails for him to send me the password to log onto Directechs.com to program the unit. The instructions are absolutely horrible!!! I got the remote start installed but not the alarm portion because of a few questions I had regarding unclear wiring. I emailed Doug 3X with various questions regarding the install and alarm hookup. He never returned any of my emails. The remote start worked ok. Most of the time I had to push the Lock button on my fob multiple 3X cycles to get it to start. Frustrating. Easier in most cases to just start it with the key instead of standing in your house at 5am beeping your horn multiple times trying to get your truck started. Must be a poor range thing. My fob responds to every button push but wouldn't always go into the remote start cycle.
A few days ago, the module started making a loud clicking noise when I would enter the vehicle. I didn't know what it was and thought it was something to do with my new Recon taillights that I installed. Today was the first day I had an opportunity to trouble shoot the clicking noise and found out that it was some sort of relay clicking inside the Directed 5X10 module. I unplugged the module and plugged it back in and it completely stopped working all together. When I would try and remote start my console would display WRONG KEY FOB. I did multiple soft resets and reprogrammed, 2 hard resets and reprogrammed with no luck! The light sequence on the unit would never jive with the installation paperwork. I even logged onto Directechs.com live chat to try and get answers. There response was, "Plug in another unit and see if that one works sounds like either the unit is bad or the XKloader is bad"
After spending about 3 hours trouble shooting this thing, I finally gave up. I tore the whole unit out and requested a return from Ebay Doug.
I know several people on here have had positive experiences with Doug and his products. This experience has definitely left a sour taste in my mouth. We will see if he handles this return professionally or if I will have to involve Ebay and Paypal.

First post but I felt I should add my $.02. I to purchased the remote start from Doug on eBay. Received it on 12/3/17 and tried to install it a couple of days later. Ran into a problem with programming the second fob. The led on the box would only flash red after following the instructions. I emailed Doug on 12/6, again on 12/8 and then on 12/16. He responded on 12/16 and said he had been in the hospital since 12/5 after suffering a stroke. He indicated that he had limited capabilities. I told him I could wait until he was feeling up to it and to contact me the. I have yet to hear back from him. Not sure of his condition at this time. Has anyone heard from him after 12/16/17?

Doug contacted me yesterday. He informed me that he did have a stroke and was in the hospital for 3 weeks. He said that he was out of the hospital not but still recovering. He wanted to make sure that I didn't think he was avoiding me. I wished him a speedy recovery and we are currently working on a resolution to my issues.

Doug's installer Jason contacted me today and we completely reset the unit by programming it to another vehicle then reprogramming it back to mine. We got the remote start working. Now I just need to hook up a couple more wires, sensors and siren for the alarm. All seems good now.

is this plug and play for 2014 ram? it says plug and play but directions says it needs to tap into door trigger wire and Optional parking light wire? . I got the key2go key generated but when I plugged it back into truck I didn't have green led. I was getting red flashing x6, which led me to door trigger wire.

The one I have is plug and play for my 2014 RAM 1500. The "T" harness connects to the factory connections leaving two single wires that "can" be hooked up. One is for the park lights which is not required but suggested. The other wire is to simulate a door being opened to trigger the radio to shut off when the remote start times out. That one is optional. I did not connect either of these during my test install. I can't get past the "Key2go flashing", the DB3 module flashes red x3 after removing the second key. Still have to figure that out with EBay Doug's help when he is up to it.

Thanks for the update on Doug. Glad to hear he is still with us.

I have the 5x10 module which I'm guessing is similar to yours. I was having issues with the 3 red lights flashing as well. What we did is go onto the directechs.com website and flash my module to a 2012 Honda Accord, then after confirming that it set it up for an Accord, we reflashed it to my truck again. I then plugged it in to my truck and the light came on the module solid red. I inserted my key fob in the ignition, turned it on and the module slowly flashed an orange light. Took the unit back to the computer and a Generate Key option came up and I clicked Yes. It then programmed for a couple minutes and said success. I then went back to my truck, plugged it in and a solid green light game on the module for a few seconds. I clicked the lock button on my fob 3X and it started up.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try. I was given a password to the website, for the downloads originally but it expired 12/11 so I didn't even try to re-flash the unit.

I got mine from a guy on ebay at Sound Extreme, got to me in 2 days, he walked me through it on the phone, was literally 2 plugs and 10 minutes and i was remote starting my Ram from my factory remote using the lock button 3 times.. item # was 191649866758, cheapest thing i could find and would have paid twice that much. Definitely recommended..

Mine has an extra port on the harness so you can still plug something else into it.

I got the 4x10 installed. Wondering if anyone else that has it has the issue where 99% of the time it does not work the first time. Meaning, instead of 3x remote start it is 6x remote start?

You might be pushing the button too quickly..... I know that's a common problem people have with this setup.

seems not to matter, I've tried many ways. Doug says it should be done within 4 seconds.

So it seems that on Ram trucks it is a 4x. The first "wakes" the truck/system up. Then the next 3 is the 3x. Tested and works every time now.
