Dont get 4.56 if you drive that much on the freeway. Im lucky to get 19mpg at 70 mph with 4.56s on 305 50 20 nittos. I was getting 23mpg with 3.92s.

If you're doing that much highway then I'll get 4.10 if you're worried about mpg.

There is a sticker on the driver side of the rear axle tube. It will show you what gear you have.

I agree with what others have said go with 4.10 or less as 4.56 is pretty hard on gas on the freeway 65plus. What size tires you running though?

10-foe I'm praying it says atleast 3.55 and not 3.21

whats the difference if you regear? You should be doing the opposite, if you have 3.21s it will be a bigger difference in the end... if the truck cant hold 8th on a 1% grade, you got 3.21s....

If you think you need 4.10's, then you NEED 4.56's. I'm running 35's on 15x10" wheels. I went 4.56, and WISH I'd gone to 4.88's!

When I finally get around to one-ton'ning it, I will go 4.88's - unless I get some serious new Oooomph out of my engine & transmission!

I'm just 2wd so I'll feel a slight jump better than u would lol and if your running 35s a 4.88 is exactly what you need...I stayed away from a 4x4 on this truck one because I still have my 08 tundra that's on 35s and two me and Jack Daniels get along real good even better when there's mud around lol

I don't think you can fit 4.88s inside the 9.25 on 4th gen on mine to fit the 4.56 we had to grind some of the housing to squeeze in. If you will be doing interstate driving 4.10 will be better for wide range.

Went from 3.55s to 4.10s and my mpg actually went up if I stay at 70 on the interstate.

I dont doubt that, if you can take some of the load off the motor and keep the rpm reasonable, mpg would be the same or better with increased performance. Very few motors really like to be lugged down at 1700rpm trying to run 75mph. Especially not a small v8 in a heavy truck.

Will also let the MDS function easier, if you have that...

Gear swaps can be an expensive ordeal. I would go to one of the many calculators on line, enter your gear ratio, transmission ratio, tire dia., and cruising speed and it will calculate your rpms. You can type in whatever gears you need to get your desired rpm.

Click on "Equipment Listing" on the left hand side then put your VIN into the provided spot and click "search". You will learn everything you need to know about how your truck was built.

Yep, my MDS is turned off, but my little eco light stays on more than not at 70 and below whereas before it on and off very frequently with 3.55s.
