4.7 engine life span rating

I have a 2011 Ram 1500 with the 4.7L motor that has 245,000 on it. Does anyone know what the factory rating is for rebuild on this motor, or lifespan expectancy?

I honestly don't know if there is a public lifespan rating on most gas engines.

I've only ever seen a lifespan expectancy on Cummins motors which the expected rebuild time around 300k miles.

That said anything over 100k is fair game in my book. Though these 3.7, 4.7, and 5.7 engines seem to do well if you maintain them! My 2007 Jeep Liberty with the 3.7 has 176k but is showing some signs of wear now.

i had 203,000 miles on my 2001 Dakota and it was still running strong when i sold it. My 5.9l in my Durango had 210,000 when i sold it and it was starting to get to that point or needing somethig

I think that how it was used and maintained would vary so much that its impossible to guess. Engines usually will start showing signs that they need major repair before they fail. Excessive oil leaks, loss of power, knocking, low oil pressure, loss of compression, burning oil or losing antifreeze are some ways to tell. That's not to say it can't throw a rod or lock up instantly either, but at 245,000 you definitely got your moneys worth out of it.
