I have a 4.7 in a 2011 ram. From a dead stop if you floor it is slow to accelerate until you get to about 3000 3500 RPMs then it really picks up speed. I have a 2000 ram with a 5.9 in it and it has way better take off than the 4.7 but not as much in the upper RPM range. Also when it is cold it has a clicking sound until it gets warm. is it normal for these overhead cam engines to have a tick in the valve train.

it is normal to have lil sound when cold alot of 4.7s and 5.7s do have you been changing your oil? A vid of the noise would help alot. Also does it have a rough idle/missfire? any engine light?

Have you checked your manifold bolts and pulleys ?

I just bought. It had the oil changed right before I got it. It runs and idles smooth . The off idle take off is like a engine that has way to big of a cam without enough gear or a stall converter

My 4.7L ticks a little but nothing louder than my Hemi. I have not had any problems with the manifold ticking/leaking but I have a Dakota.

I have a 2013 Dodge Ram with a 4.7 and mine does the same thing it seems to stall around 2000 rpms and as soon as it gets to around 3000 it revs way faster and way more power is normal?
