First, I am new to the forum and have done some research, but still need some help. My 04 Ram with 4.7 is surging and stalling at rest and while coming to a stop. I have read all these post saying check the EGR or clean the speed sensors on the front wheels. The issue I have is that the EGR that is depicted in the pictures I have found is not on my engine anywhere. All I have is a PCV and some sort of remote valve near the fuse box that has a line going to the throttle body and the rear of the driver's side head. I have checked for trouble codes, but there are none. I really can't afford to go to the dealer for this. I am a mechanic, but I don't have a lot of experience with newer Dodge products. Need some real help on this one.

I did some more research and it appears that I need to check out the IAC for carbon and operation. Gonna try to clean it and the TB and see what happens next.

Well, I took out the IAC and cleaned the hell out of it. The seat and plunger were extremely caked with oil and carbon. I cleaned out the housing as well and removed some build up from the TB. I started it and it idles rather smoothly now. I will report back after I drive it to work. It only took 10 minutes to clean it up (start to finish).

I'm really interested to hear how this worked for you. I'm having a similar problem but it usually only happens first thing in the morning and once it does, I crank back up and everything seems to be fine.

Drove to work and had zero issues at any stop and the idle never changed at all. I do believe I can call this a success. As far as what I did, here goes:
1. Remove Airbox 2. Remove T25 torx screw from Intake Air Controller located on the right of the Throttle body on the lower side. 3. Remove the wire connector and pull out the assemble from the TB. It may take a bit if force, use a flat tip if needed. 4. After removal you will notice that the controller and the TB are probably coated with oil and carbon from the PCV inlet which is right next to the TB in the airbox. I believe this is the point of origin for this issue. I then used WD-40 to clean the unit and the TB and wiped clean with a lint free cloth. I also made sure to gently push the plunger down to clean the plastic and the seat. I gave the plunger one last shot of WD-40 and placed it back in the cleaned TB. 5. Reassemble and start it up. Hope this helps others out.

I am revisting this thread because I still haven't really fixed my issue yet, money is kinda tight. As most of you CenTx people know the temp dropped last night. I go out this morning and the Lil Blue Truck purrs like a cat....WTF. No idle issues, I can stop however I want to, no surges, no rough idle...it just works great. I still have to test the TPS to confirm it's ok, but I'm thinking maybe it's been the intake temp sensor that is bad and the cool air has allowed it to function better or at least read correctly for once. Does anyone know how to test the intake temp sensor to verify it is reading correctly?
