Hey everyone, I have a 2019 ram classic with the ecodiesel. Yesterday I got in the truck to leave my parents and had zero throttle, no codes until the 3rd startup attempt and got a p04de-00 cold start egr a flow excessive detected. Held the pedal to the floor and truck idled up and drove normally for the rest of the day. This morning it did it twice at stop signs but no new codes and the egr code is stored in my system. Anyone else experienced this and found a resolution?

Update, I cleared the codes on lunch. When I went to leave work, the service electronic throttle message and cel came back on with the p04de code again. Truck is very sluggish and doesn't seem to be "kicking down" going up hills. Has absolutely no power under load.

If the EGR valve is malfunctioning, the engine won't run correctly.

Update: pulled the truck in after work today with plans to clean the egr valve. Loosened the bolts and coolant ran out. Assuming the cooler is leaking and has destroyed the valve. Is there a kit that just deletes the cooler and programs it out of the computer or should I just replace the whole shebang? I see Dorman has a replacement that supposedly fixes the design issues that cause this. Thanks for any input!

Being a 2019 Gen2 EcoDiesel, you still have about three years or however many miles till 100K before the useful life of the emissions system is up.
You may want to find out if that has the updated EGR cooler and check as it is most likely covered under warranty.
The downside is coolant getting into the DOC/DPF will cause all sorts of havok wreck. It's possible that if the EGR cooler is covered under warranty that the dealership maybe able to replace the entire exhaust after treatment.

I have zero warranty on this truck. I purchased it used and it is originally from Canada. Seems like FCA doesn't like warrantying these trucks from Canada from what I understand. The cooler on the truck has a made in Italy sticker on it which may or may not mean anything. I can see in my car fax history where the catalytic converter and dpf filter have both already been replaced but no egr mentioned if that means anything.

The EGR was a recall on these trucks which extends the warranty. Its a required emissions device that the federal government mandates.
Run the VIN to see if there's any recalls
