It would probably work with if you had the 5.7. But you'll need the whole wiring harness from the 6.1, then computer, then maybe the trans and tq converter. But with enough time and, well, money anything is possible.

Oops never mind. But definitely the charger ecu will need to be used. The only thing I don't know is if it'll just plug in to the ram.

Maybe you can talk to Hemifever and maybe he can write up a custom tune to fit your vin and everything.

The Charger uses a CANbus system, your 2002 Ram uses a PCI bus, they aren't compatible. You will need a PCM/harness from an 04-05 to integrate properly in your truck. Hemi swaps have been successfully done with the 4.7 computer and cable TB but not very many and not without problems.

I have an 04 dodge ram 5.7 and an 08 jeep srt8. Mopar did not change much over the years. the ram has a 4 speed with overdrive-5speed and the jeep has a 5 speed but the bolt patterns might not be the same on the trans but if not pulling the engine with trans would not be a problem bc the engine bays are fairly large. You definitely need the ecu and the wiring harness. One thing mopar did with those 6.1's was make those things like rocket ships with a limiter at 155mph but they also made it as advanced as one. You would probably need a new fuel pump to keep up with the engines demands

The SRT Jeep does not have a electronic speed governor but it is rpm/drag limited.

Thread revival!! Did you ever get it up and running right. Sounds like a cool build I actually just fired up the 5.7 Hemi I swapped into my 98 ram last night haven't driven it at all yet but it's running and idling good.

If your still having problems with the wiring and whatnot I'd suggest talking to Chris at hotwire auto .com he's a freaking genius when it comes to wiring on these motors. He custom builds harnesses for swapping Hemi's into just about anything you can think of. He built the harness for my Hemi swap and it was pretty much plug and play except for a couple wires I had to do myself.
