Can't find anything on this issue. Hard to describe but the engine kind of sputters at full throttle. The engine cuts in and out when I floor it. Like it will rev and then cut out over and over really fast. Also doesn't have much power. My initial thought was clogged injectors or clogged cat but I've ran cleaner through the fuel a few times. It is also hard to start from time to time.

My old V6 acted that way when the crank sensor had gotten bad.

To further describe, it would run ok if I "tickled" the gas pedal, but if I leaned on it to go up a hill or accelerate faster than old lady stage it would buck like crazy.
I was living in Ct then and the whole area was a rusty ball of crap. My son had to pull the oil pan to remove the sensor from the inside.

I used to have this same issue on my 4.7 when i had a home built air intake. My intake would collapse, not sure if this is applicable to you though.

Have you connected a fuel pressure gauge to the truck yet? If not, go rent a gauge from your local auto parts store and verify that you have proper fuel pressure.

Next, a scan tool would let you see if you are losing the cam or crank signals.

That could be the case. It's not homemade but it is an off brand intake with a cleanable filter. Did it buck real hard like the last guy stated?

Turned out to be the camshaft sensor. I swear it only had a code for p0038 but when I plugged up the scanner it pulled the one for camshaft. Put a new one in and pow!, no more bucking and gained quite a bit of power back. 200k miles so not near what it used to be but much better. Thanks for the help!
