Hello all. I may be confused here. I've got a 4" rough country kit coming my way for my 2012 and was trying to decide on some new rear shocks. I had decided on the Pro Comp Pro Runners, but when I received them in the mail today there was a stud on top and eyelet on bottom...in other words it was a front shock. Even though it's listed as a rear shock on almost every website, it's not apparently. So now I'm not sure what to do here, and it doesn't look like the rough country kit comes with new shocks for the rear. What all are you using?

TL;DR version:

1.) What rear shocks are you all using with a 4" lift?

also

2.) What do I need to set the Bilstein 5100s to to be exactly level, or as close to it as possible with the 4" rough country kit???

1) can't answer that
2) it depends on the original rake of your truck (typically 4x4's have 3" of rake and 2x4 have like 2") and then how much the lift adds to the truck in the front/rear

What's the problem with the shock the kit comes with?

As for level, you need to set the Bilsteins at 0.7 to be level.

I really really like the pro comp stuff. I've been putting them on other trucks for a while now and it seems to be really great quality. You're next question is why I didn't get the pro comp lift...they don't make a 4". I digress, I love the look and quality of the pro runners, but I'm not sure what's not adding up with part numbers or whatever.

To better answer that question, I've read on here at least a few times that all the lift kits generally come with garbage shocks. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but it motivated to buy he pro comps, so here I am with them and they don't work so I was looking for something comparable. Maybe I was pointed in the wrong direction??

Also for some reason I was under the assumption the rough country kit didn't come with shocks because they weren't listed on the parts list, but that's not the case either.

Got my shocks question figured out...instead of making a new thread I though I'd just bump this one for a different question.

So fastNugly says to set the Bilteins at .07, but that gave another member a half inch rake, which isn't bad at all. What would it look like with them set at 1.4"??? .02" nose up doesn't seem like much, and I've read these Bilstein's setlle after a while. What all is everyone doing?

You have the 4" RCX, right?
It's a 4" up front and 2" in the rear.
If your truck follows the average rake of 2.75" .....0.7" will be your setting.
But if your rake is greater than 2.75" at stock, then you will have to choose according to how you want to see your truck.
What's the stock rake now? That's if you're stock...

Half inch of rack will not be obvious maybe not even viewable by naked eye.

RCX 4" is coming. They're back ordered for the 12 right now. With a pro comp 2.5" level it's sitting 38.75" front and 40 in the rear. So I guess even with a .5" rake I'd have less rake than now. I definitely don't want to look stupid with my nose up, but I do remember reading that the Bilsteins settle. I just want as much info as possible so I'm not having to take things apart again once the lift goes on...which ill be doing myself.

It's incredibly hard to get an accurate depiction of these lifts with just pictures for some reason. I see things that look good, and other things that look better with little to no info.

If you need pricing and want to support a local vendor here, we are setup on RCX as well ;)

I suppose I meant rake not rack. You tell what is really on my brain and it is not Arby's.
