Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. When I first pull out after my truck has set all day my 4x4 light starts flickering, four wheel drive doesn't feel engaged in the steering just the light flickering. After about 2-3 miles it goes off and stays off. Four wheel drive works fine however. I only noticed this after the temperature has dropped, it's 8 right now, just bought the truck in November so this is the first real cold it's seen with me. I appreciate the help, I'm off to google in the mean time!

You need to check the CAD for proper vac opt and you can also check the switch that is on the cad it might be bad. The vac lines run down the back of the tranny to the xcase, then to the cad. These line get brittle over time and might have leaks making it slow for the cad to register right for the first little bit once the truck has started after sitting.

I found that one if the metal lines heading back to the transfer case had rubbed almost completely into. I was able to cut the lines back and braze in another piece of line. If it ever quits raining I will post some pics of my repair.
