I bought the ruien can from Amazon, was $28 last week. Bought 3/8" i.d. fuel hose with it. The can came with 3/8" barbs and 5/8" barbs that thread in, didnt realize came with both. Wishing i would have got 5/8 upgraded hose instead as im feeling like a larger diameter hose may let the gunk flow better? Been paying attention to marshrams posts, i plan on installing like his photos. Any thoughts on hose diameter and flow?

I wouldn't think the larger diameter hose would make a difference since it's just a small amount of liquid spitting through here and there. Not that I know what the hell I'm talking about, just using logic.

However, the 3/8" hose presented another issue connecting the pcv and intake ends. The house was not large enough to fit the barbs. With that said, I left the existing oem rubber couplers on those barbs and inserted the hoses into the couplers. It was a perfectly snug fit and i'ts been a good 10k miles plus and they haven't slipped out once.

Thanks for the input. Im going with it, like the fact the 3/8 will fit snug inside the factory boots. May use a tyrap or hose clamp and just ad a little snug to it. Cheaper than buying the brass barb fittings. I upgraded the orings on the can with viton ones and added an oring to the dipstick just to make sure theres no vacuum leaks

That second picture on bottom-how’d you mount that to the truck?

Can you take pics of your mounting setup please?

Check out page 2 on this thread, post 16 on that page. I did a write-up with pics showing where and how it was mounted!

Got my $24 Ruien can installed.

Took me a bit to figure out my mounting location. I ended up mounting it on my cold air inlet box. Sucker takes up a TON of space in my engine bay and left me with little usable real-estate.

Used 1/8 by 3” aluminum flat stock from Lowe’s for my homemade mounting bracket. Similar to those previously posted. 1/8 allowed me to bend the stock. I wanted a lip on the bottom of the bracket for a more secure mount and a little standoff on the bottom. Used a grinder to cut the flat stock.

Also used the 3/8 fuel line from Oreillys that I inserted into the boots like the other guy suggested. That was a great idea by that guy.

Pics for info purposes.

Had to mount it to the rear of my CAI box. Only place I really had room to get under the catch can to unscrew and dump it.

Would prefer it more visible for aesthetics but this was the best option for me

Nice. The boot insert was total chance as I had spent a few hours driving around trying to find the right barb couplings with no luck. They have never popped out of the boots, nice snug fit!

If you were at Lowe's you could have picked up the barbed ends back in the plumbing department. Back where they keep the pek water pipe. They have the right sizes. They work great.

I must have spent an hour looking at all of them. They didn't have the right size other than a plastic one. Neither did a couple other places I went to. I was a little surprised.

Well I got brass ones at Lowe's. I even bought a couple of ninety degree and straight serrated ones that worked great

That's a noval idea putting a dipstick on you're catch can. Wander why no one else has thought of that.

Because it's very simple to just drain it every few months into an old water bottle or something. No need to check the level when you can just drain it. Mine has the 1/4 turn ball valve on the bottom.
