Hello and thank you for having this forum. I have owned a 1999 Dodge 2500, 4WD, Cummins. automatic for 4 years. I live in Wisconsin and if you know anything about our roads you know they are salty in winter.
After 20 years of life, the body and now the frame have given up. I went to MO and bought a 2000 2500 with gas engine. The plan is to replace the gas engine with the diesel. Swap the motor, trans, rearend (if needed) to make the gasser a diesel. State of Wisconsin has a method for retitling, so that is all good.
On the trip back from MO 4/5/19, the frame snapped. Somewhere along the line it decided to let go.
I have a couple questions. First, has anyone done this swap before and is there anything I need to watch out for?
Second. the truck that I brought back has no reverse. I am reading that this is common. I will be pulling the pan off and looking at the insides. I think I have a good start on what to do, but would like to know if anyone has any specific suggestions.
I have no history on the gasser dodge as it was a bank repossession.
Any help, hints, tips, explanations, etc are greatly welcomed.
