Potential purchase

I'm looking to replace my 2008 GMC 2500 diesel with 305,000 miles. It's been a great truck although things are wearing out and costing me.

A local dealer has a 2018 Ram 2500HD Tradesman, 4 dr 8' bed. It appears to be pretty loaded for the year.

100,384 miles, 6.4l gasser with MDS. I tow a 34' 5th wheel camper.

It appears this truck should handle that and gas is cheaper. Asking $30,995.

Go or no go?

Price seems a little high to me with that age and mileage. Its not crazy mileage but just remember, if you tow alot its already got 100k on the odometer

I always forget the year the tranny changed.... if it's the 6spd you won't like towing your 5th wheel in the hills. Also, the 8spd is proving to be more reliable it seems. I'm at 150K on my 2014 Hemi and have been through two tranny failures and an engine failure.

Everything I've read says it has a 6-speed tranny.

The 8 speed came out in 2019 in the hd trucks. No way in hell i would change out my old truck for one without the 8speed. They are light years better in every way.

That price seems very high for the miles and age and trim level. Did you kbb it to see what they say for a price? That just seems high.

Its more than i would want to spend on it, personally.

What is wrong with your truck? Towing heavy and moving from a diesel to a gasser with mds, I would put some thought into that. The 2500 is a great product all around here, the RFE is also buildable and easy to work on VB and service fluids. You could find something similar as much as 5k off that though, maybe more.
