4X4 indicator

Have 2000, 2500 4x4. Might be silly question but should there not be an indicator to show you are in four wheel drive? If so we’re is it?
Girlfriend truck but I have looked every where. On my 2003 it shows on dash.

It shows up in green on the dash cluster & looks like a capital I, if I remember correctly in the center.
The switch on the CAD maybe be gone or a broken wire/connector going to it.

Actually it'll be orange and say 4x4 in the cluster when it's engaged being a 2000. Next to the check engine light

Damn I must be thinking of my ‘14? I sold my ‘99 in August but hadn’t driven it for 5 yrs prior to that.

Switch is on the cad housing on the front axle though
